The small ceremony room at city hall felt intimate and sacred despite its institutional lighting and generic décor. I stood beside Damien, wearing the ivory silk dress from our first charity gala, watching Victoria Cross and Elizabeth Chen serve as witnesses to the most important moment of my life.
"Do you, Isabella Morrison Sterling, take Damien Cross to be your lawfully wedded husband?" the officiant asked with practiced warmth.
