Chapter 47 - Ch. 47 - The Strongest First-year Generation!

"This is him?" Satoru rubbed his chin, his tall figure bending slightly to meet Yuta's eyes.

Seeing such a tall guy with a white bandage over his eyes, Yuta nervously darted his eyes and upon seeing Kenshin, tried to ask him for help via eye communication.

Understanding his predicament, Kenshin chuckled before stepping forward.

"Sensei, give him a slack. He just got here."

Pouting, Satoru heed his words and finally pulled himself away from Yuta, much to the poor boy's relief.

"Mah~ Mah~ I was just assessing him. It's not every day you get to see someone with a special-grade spirit inside them, existing in harmony." Satoru smiled and explained with a casual shrug.

"Well, at least consider his feelings. He doesn't know what's happening nor he seems to like being near you." Kenshin deadpanned at him, causing Satoru's smile to freeze.

"U-Uhm….W-Who are you guys? Where am I?" Yuta raised his hand timidly like a student.

"Good thing you asked. Let me welcome you to Tokyo Jujutsu High, the best Jujutsu school out of the three existing schools in Japan!" Satoru grinned and spread his arms wide before loudly declaring.

"Tokyo Jujutsu High?" Yuta mumbled the name to himself and tilted his head in confusion.

How come I've never heard of it? He wondered to himself.

"That's right. And you, my dear Yuta Okkotsu, will be enrolled here and learn how to control your Special-grade cursed spirit." Satoru bent forward and tapped his index finger against Yuta's chest.

"Special-grade cursed spirit?" Yuta was confused at first before his eyes widened in realization.

"You mean, Rika-chan?!"

"Bing Bong! You got it right. So her name is Rika. You even know her name." Satoru tapped his chin and asked.

"Say, when did you first met this…Rika-chan? Was it during your childhood? Since birth? Or recently?"

"I-I'm not sure. But she appeared when my friend, Rika-chan died from an accident." Yuta bowed his head as sadness overtook him. His memories of Rika-chan's death is still vivid and fresh in his mind. It's like he could still feel her warm blood sticking against his cheeks.

"Hmm…So you were cursed by your own friend before she died. Probably along the lines of 'I don't want to leave my friend behind' or something like that." Satoru casually said, basing it off his knowledge about cursed spirits.

"R-Really? Did Rika-chan really cursed me with that?" This was the first time Yuta discovered about this. And since the man who told him about it belongs to a mysterious group, it has to be the truth, right?

"I'm not sure but that's how some cursed spirits are mostly formed. Through dying but still having some regrets haven't been fulfilled yet." Satoru explained.

"So Rika-chan still have regrets. But what is it?" Yuta lowered his head and wondered.

"That's for you to find out during your time here." Satoru fixed his white bandage over his eyes and finished.

"Kenshin-san here will be the one overseeing you around the place. Coincidentally, he's also a new enrollee here just yesterday like you." Satoru happily clapped his hands before continuing.

"I'm sure you two will get along just fine!"

Get along just fine…, mumbled Yuta as his eyes slowly brushed over Kenshin and he immediately shivered after remembering what happened earlier.

A single word was able to take down Rika-chan, put her to sleep for god knows how long. He can't even hear or feel her presence any more, as if she completely disappeared.

Are all first-years like him this scary?

————

"Your room is close to mine. So if there's anything you need, just call me." After bringing Yuta to his dorm room, Kenshin said his farewells to him before going out.

He's planning to go back home for a while, it's not like they're not allowing the students to go home or anything.

To be honest, when Kenshin got to know the school's rules, it feels more like living in a second home with free food and education. Albeit the said education is about hunting cursed spirits.

In other words, the school doesn't exactly lock their students away from the outside world like a bunch of prisoners.

I guess this is better than the Kuoh Academy I was supposed to go to, muttered Kenshin as he passed by the training field and saw Maki training by herself with the Naginata that he gave her.

Even though she hasn't come up with a name for it yet but hopefully, by the time he comes back, she already have one in mind.

"Maki-san!" Kenshin called out to her as he approached, prompting her to stop and wipe off her sweat.

Gulp!

Now that Kenshin got a closer look on her, he gulped his saliva. Maki is currently wearing a white tank top, exposing her slightly muscular arms that shone from her sweat. Her tank top is drenched, causing her six pack abs to cling over the shirt.

Combined with her not wearing her usual glasses thanks to the Naginata along with her hair tied in a bun, her appearance almost made Kenshin get a hard on!

Can you blame him when there's such a hottie in front of him? He's still a virgin, goddammit!

"Hmm? Are you leaving already?" Seeing Kenshin's getup, Maki had a vague guess in her mind, in which she's right.

"That's right. I was planning on adding your LINE so we can chat, do you have one?" At this point, Kenshin no longer felt that embarrassed when asking for someone's LINE. His recent interactions with women made his confidence soar!

"Yeah sure." Maki wiped off her face before taking the phone from Kenshin's hands and typed her number.

"Let's chat later." Maki grinned. Aside from Panda and Inumaki, she finally had another number on her phone.

"Sure." Nodded Kenshin.

Before he could leave, Maki's voice stopped him in place.

"You know. I'm still quite curious about what you did back there. In Yuta's place, I mean." Maki stared at Kenshin's eyes, as if trying to pry his secrets right there and then.

"Would you believe me if I were to say it's magic?" His words, of course, made her frown.

"It's not a cursed technique? Though I've never heard of having two cursed techniques in someone's arsenal but it's not impossible."

She's not to blame about it. When he showed her his ability to store items in his inventory, she assumed that was his Cursed Technique but when he made a Special-grade cursed spirit sleep with a single spell yesterday, destroyed that assumption. So now, she's curious of what Kenshin is truly capable of.

"I'll tell it to you when I come back." Kenshin smiled mysteriously before waving his hand as he left.

"Hmph. Fine, keep your secrets." Once Kenshin was far from her, Maki cutely pouted before resuming her training.

Of course, Kenshin saw it but held himself from teasing her about it.

————

The ride back home was fast and smooth thanks to Ijichi offering to drive for him. If he didn't know Ijichi's true job, he would've thought he's a professional chauffeur for rich brats.

"Thank you, Ijichi-san. Here take this." Once he's home, Kenshin leaned over the open window of Ijichi's car and thanked him while handing him a bracelet.

"This is?" Ijichi curiously inspected the bracelet.

"It's a protective bracelet. You'll see what it does if something fatal happens to you."

"I see. Then thank you, Kuroki-san." Ijichi warmly smiled and lightly bowed his head in respect.

"Take care." Kenshin waved his hand at him as Ijichi drove off after wearing the bracelet.

Even though Ijichi didn't exactly die in the anime but with his presence causing butterfly effects, it's hard to say if fate will stay at its original course.

Just as Kenshin was about to knock on the front door, it was suddenly pulled open by none other than Yasaka, wearing an apron and a white towel over her hair.

"Yasaka….are you cleaning the house again?" Kenshin deadpanned.

A sly smile appeared on Yasaka's face as she replied, "Is it wrong? I'm practicing, you know."

"Practicing? For what?" He raised a brow as Kenshin entered his home.

However, Yasaka simply turned around and left, "Nothing!~"

What's with this girl today? Kenshin wondered.

"Where's mom and dad?" After spreading his senses around the place and not detecting his parents and even his little sister, Kenshin asked her.

"They told me they're going to enroll Tomoko-chan to a school near your current one, which was it, Tokyo Jujutsu High?"

"Right. But the school is in the outskirts of Tokyo. I don't think they'll find any schools near there."

"Well, that's what they told me." Yasaka simply shrugged her shoulders. Whether Kenshin's parents find a school near the outskirts of Tokyo is beyond her problem.

So is, Kenshin. Knowing Tomoko's nature, he prefers her to just stay at a school near their home instead.

"By the way. How was the Tokyo Jujutsu High? The name rings a bell but I can't recall hearing it from somewhere." Yasaka changed the topic and asked, placing the tip of her index finger just below her lower lip.

"Jujutsu Sorcerers. Ever heard of them?" Kenshin leaned on the wall and said, making Yasaka contemplate for a few seconds.

"Jujutsu Sorcerers. Jujutsu. Jujutsu. Sorcerers…wait, Jujutsu Sorcerers!?" Yasaka gasped as she finally remembered where she heard the familiar term.

"Hmm? You know about them?" Even Kenshin was curious about it. In fact, he's been asking this to himself for the past few days.

As Jujutsu Sorcerers are prominent in Japan for exorcising various Cursed Spirits, he wondered if they also attempt to 'exorcise' a Yokai.

"Umu! But I've only heard of a Jujutsu Sorcerer named Sukuna from our history books. Says that guy used to hunt Yokais indiscriminately. He's like a nightmare in a story my mom used to tell me about before going to be—"

"PFFFTT!"
