It had hit him like a storm.
The moment they entered the palace vault, he smelled the overwhelming lavender scent. His steps faltered, and he turned to face the rest of the alphas.
Ryn.
The air was drenched in his pheromones.
"Can you smell it?" he asked Sylas and Veyr.
They both nodded in response.
Kael's hand clenched against the wall and his eyes widened as he quickened his pace.
This wasn't just a scent.
It was heat.
"Fuck," he muttered under his breath.
From behind, he heard Sylas stumble, also catching the scent. "Shit—he's gone into heat?" Sylas hissed, also moving faster.
Veyr cursed beside them. "They locked him in there while he's in heat?"
Kael growled at the thought of that. He was going to kill anyone who dared to touch him. Every instinct in him was screaming. He could feel the desperation in Ryn's scent, the pain he was going through.
