Chapter 33 - Battle of Truths VIII

Naph's ears were ringing that's when he remembered. 'Wait! I already knew what the term teleport means! I knew it since the first teleportation pole appeared in Sevenren.' He facepalmed himself.

It felt like a normal moment of forgetting something momentarily to him.

While simultaneously his ears got slammed by another crashing sound. And he only had time to protect one of his ears from it by plugging it with his hand already on it.

Zanlo's voice came muffled, "I don't believe you could forget a simple word. That can't be true! You are young." Then he was blasted at by the same invisible force with more intensity.

Naph squinted at everything that was happening. First, he saw shards of clear glass falling from straight above. Huge pieces even.

The fountain of the bull flattened. Its water vaporized.

Steam spread out from the center of the crossroad. Blood mist was gone.

Astref still in a puddle of blood, trying to get out. But he was pinned down.

Bricks and cobbles shattered. Air held a strong stony scent overpowering the scent of blood.

"Is-Is that the sky?" Naph asked in a small voice looking up at the glass shards. He couldn't hear his own voice clearly.

That's when six people descended down surrounding Naph.

And with their backs to him.

'Huh?' Naph puzzled. And numb by the shockwaves.

Six who confined him in a circle glanced at him one by one. He did not find single one recognizable. At the same, all six exhaled a relief.

"He is not hurt yet, let's keep him that way. I don't want to get yelled by Ennet." Said the one right behind Anaphol.

Naph could not understand what she meant. 'Hurt? I am hurt all over! My muscles are aching, my ears are ringing, and I am nearly exhausted of whatever this speaking C-A-T-A uses.' He wanted to move his mouth so much but he could only voice his thought within.

Hearing it instinctively, Zanlo laughed. "Poor boy has terrible saviours! Don't worry, Naph!" He gave a wicked smile, "we will kill them real soon."

Naph's eyebrows furrowed. "Did you just say Ennet?"

The one behind him, a lady of substantial height above Naph with straight black hair answered. "Yeah, the same one you are thinking of. The one from the bookstore."

Naph was about to say something more when he was cut off. A man to his left in front cut in saying, "Less talk, more escape."

Right then more people stepped into the bloodied crossroad. None of them showing a tiny flinch from the macabre scene.

Their steps crunched the few broken bones that had not been grinded to dust by Zanlo's control of blood. It echoed clearly. Like a haunting of what's to come.

Before Naph could say anything next, the six around him jumped away. Each engaging the enemy coming from the six entrances to the crossroad.

It included a short heighted girl dressed in a long dress of velvet and leafy green. Her hair flew like a flag of black and gold. Without missing a beat, she called out to Naph.

"Hey Naph, we want to save Sevenren!" Her hand radiated a mist as it went straight to jab at the neck of a girl in red overalls. "And my name is Svnyo!"

The girl in red overalls lost her head as it became a mist. It spun and went to trail behind the mist from Svnyo's hand. The body dropped to its knees and stayed as it is.

Only one unaffected by anything that has happened till now was Rhide. He stood covered in blood head to toe yet the effect from Naph's cata based attack had not shown its effect.

"Svnyo! Stop talking and focus!" Screamed the man in a brown and beige suit. His hand clasped shut tight spun twice pointing at a group of people. As it stopped spinning, the group began vomiting blood.

Svnyo moved to her next target with extremely sharp precision. "You should too, Nert!"

The one who landed on left of Naph was now engaging his enemy with a staff. On every impact, the staff broke into tiny splinters. The splinters then spun and embedded itself into the attacked and broke out.

As splinters rejoined to form the staff, a very different fight was breaking out on Naph's right.

Zanlo was dragged in it with the invisible force now coloured in green. Its creator kicking down on Zanlo from up above and he kicked air down at tens more. There were people already smeared on the cobbles of the street.

Lady who stood behind Naph was still by his side as she chanted. Naph did not have turn around to know it as her chant was a whisper but clear.

"O, Hirto of Fulminar and Breach heed my prayer and bestow your cruelty on the ones who mean to harm what I wish to protect." She ended her chant with, "God help you," in a whisper.

Her fingers uncurled in front of her as lightning branched out from her palm in a glory of blue light and wrecked the entire back street. Bodies over bodies were charred black. A few had ducked under those charred bodies and now were standing back up.

Meanwhile a man with a spear was slicing up tens as they ran into the crossroad. This one also engaged with Astref having kicked him the instant people started running in with weapons flaring. He did not stand on ceremony to introduce or wait for someone to dictate what he does.

Naph saw the few who fought he could in front of him and was bathed in the blue light of lightning. His mind trying to keep up with the speed at which his saviours were fighting.

"But-but-but why should I trust you!" He screamed out.

The lady right behind him, turned slightly and placed a hand on Naph's shoulder. She said, "You don't have to." She smiled at him and he looked her dead in the eyes.

She continued, "Do not mock my friend's words with your doubt. Ennet could have knocked you out but she trusted in you."

Naph's pupils constricted as his eyes widened.
