Chapter 27 - First Class

After lunch the First class started and surprisingly it was the only Class that all 4 houses took together

Teaching this Class was Dumbeldore

As every student sat on their desk, the fireplace lit up, as the Dragon of Fire came out and landed down and next to the students and turned back to Dumbeldore

Dumbeldore gave a bow to the students as he spoke. "Well, sense all are here, let's explain the Magic Resonance"

He then magic write thing's in the board

MAGICAL RESONANCE — THE SEVEN GREAT ASPECTS

Every witch and wizard has a core resonance, a metaphysical frequency that aligns their soul, magic, personality traits, and spell affinities.

The chalk finished writing on its own, hovering like a smug little ghost. Every first-year stared at the board with widely different levels of panic.

Harry:

"…We didn't have any of this in Primary school."

Theo, used to Harry's muggle-born assumptions by now, didn't even comment. He just kept reading.

Draco leaned back in his seat, arms crossed.

Draco spoke with dead serious

"Right, so whichever one you are determines your entire magical career, emotional stability, your social life, and how likely you are to explode by age sixteen."

A couple of Hufflepuffs whimpered.

Dumbledore smiled the same way an ancient dragon might smile at smaller creatures discovering fire for the first time.

Hermione, at the Ravenclaw table, took notes so fast her quill was starting to smoke.

Ron looked genuinely terrified—mostly because he didn't know what half the words meant.

Neville raised his hand.

"Professor… do we already have a Resonance? Or… do we pick one?"

Dumbledore just chuckled.

"Oh, you were born with one. It is as intrinsic to you as your soul."

Neville immediately sunk into his seat, as though praying his soul wasn't something embarrassing like "Emotionally Explosive Plant Whisperer."

Harry kept reading the board, confused.

Harry:

"…What Resonance do I have?"

The Slytherins all turned to him at once.

Theo blinked.

Draco froze mid-lean.

Blaise slowly lowered his cupcake like he just remembered important information.

Theo looked at him

"…Harry… considering the snake, the sword, the glowing eyes thing, the soul-visibility aura—"

Draco continue

"And the part where you don't notice you're eating seventeen plates like a bottomless pit—"

Blaise nodded in agreement.

"And the fact you tanked that magical surge last night without dying—"

All three looked at each other.

All Three (simultaneously):

"Aether."

Harry:

"…Is that bad?"

Draco stared at him like he had asked if breathing was dangerous.

Draco:

"Harry. That's the resonance gods get."

Theo:

"It means you have infinite growth. No limit."

Blaise:

"And you are emotionally volatile so if you get sad you might explode the classroom."

Harry blinked.

Looks at Blaise.

Looks at the chalkboard section titled "Drawback: Emotionally Explosive."

Harry:

"…Uh oh."

Dumbledore raised his wand.

"To identify your resonance, place a hand upon the Crystal of Truth."

A massive crystal appeared in the center of the room, swirling with color like liquid aurora.

Everyone else:

lines up nervously

Harry stood very, very still

Theo just Looked at him

"Don't touch it yet."

Draco:

"Not until everyone else is ten feet away."

Blaise:

"And maybe after Dumbledore casts a barrier."

Dumbledore, who had been listening the whole time, chuckled.

"Oh, do not worry. If Harry is indeed Aether…"

The lights in the room flickered.

The crystal hummed ominously.

The small fairies delivering snacks hid behind textbooks.

"…then we'll find out quite dramatically."

Dumbledore tapped the board twice, and the writing reorganized itself into neat, glowing script.

"Before we begin the resonance examination, it is important to understand how rare each aspect is within the magical world."

The classroom grew quiet. Even the fairies stopped fluttering.

---

TIER I — COMMON RESONANCES

"First, the most common resonance—Storm.

Storm aligns with emotion, instinct, and force of will. It manifests wherever passion is abundant."

Half the Gryffindor table straightened with pride.

Dumbledore continued.

"It is the resonance of those who leap before they look, whose hearts act faster than their minds. In Auror departments, it is by far the most represented resonance. Quite loud, but dependable."

A few Gryffindors cheered.

Theo quietly nudged Harry. "Half the Weasleys. Guaranteed."

Ron raised his hand with a scowl. "Oi!"

---

TIER II — UNCOMMON FAMILY-LINE RESONANCES

The board shimmered again, splitting into new categories.

SUN

"Sun resonance tends to appear in families associated with ancestral prestige and strong magical heritage.

The Malfoys, Blacks, Rosiers, Longbottoms… these households produce Sun wielders with some regularity."

Draco lifted his chin a little higher.

Dumbledore:

"Sun mages radiate authority. Some naturally shine. Some… insist upon shining."

A few students snickered. Draco pretended not to hear.

---

MOON

"Moon resonance favors families with deep intuitive roots—those gifted in emotion, protection, divination, or creaturecraft.

The Weasleys, Bones, and several old clans from pre-modern Britain carry Moon in their blood."

Hermione scribbled notes.

Ron groaned into his hands. "Of course it's us…"

Luna nodded dreamily from the Ravenclaw table, as if she'd expected nothing less.

---

VEIL

"Veil resonance emerges in lines tied to illusions, wards, cursecraft, and secrecy.

The Greengrasses, Selwyns, Burkes, Lovegoods, and a few lesser-known families."

Daphne smirked faintly, pleased.

Dumbledore:

"Veil wielders are subtle, silent, and often overlooked—until they choose otherwise."

A couple of Slytherins shivered.

---

TIER III — RARE RESONANCES

The room dimmed slightly as the next two words appeared.

SPIRIT

"Spirit resonance is exceedingly rare.

It requires a stable mind, clear intent, and emotional integrity—traits far harder to cultivate than power."

Hermione's quill paused mid-stroke, eyes wide with possibility.

---

VOID

A few candles flickered as the word settled on the board.

"Void is not inherited.

It is born through trauma, mortality, and encounters with the places between magic and nothingness."

Many students swallowed.

Dumbledore:

"Void wielders are not evil. But their paths are… heavy."

Theo instinctively looked at Harry.

Harry blinked. "What?"

---

TIER IV — ULTRA-RARE

The board brightened with a single glowing word:

AETHER — THE ORIGIN SPARK

A ripple passed through the classroom.

"Aether is the rarest resonance known.

It appears only in souls touched by destiny—reincarnants, chosen heirs of ancient magic, or anomalies the universe itself cannot ignore."

Several students leaned forward.

"An Aether wielder emerges perhaps once in several centuries.

They distort prophecy, break established magical laws, and often attract the attention of entities far beyond the mortal realm."

Harry felt three sets of Slytherin eyes staring directly at him.

Draco whispered, "Please don't touch the crystal yet."

Theo nodded. "Wait until everyone else has cleared the room."

Blaise quietly moved his cupcake out of blast radius.

Harry

"…What?"

Dumbledore, smiling gently

"And now that the explanations are complete… we shall begin testing."

The crystal at the front pulsed once, like a heartbeat.

One by one, students lined up, four houses merging into a single slow-moving river toward the glowing crystal.

Dumbledore watched with a serene smile, arms folded behind his back.

The names were called alphabetically.

GRYFFINDOR

They went first, loud and impatient, whispering guesses and arguments about who would get what.

The first few Gryffindors touched the crystal—

⚡ STORM

⚡ STORM

⚡ STORM

A predictable chorus of lightning cracks filled the hall. The Gryffindor table cheered every time.

A couple of students lit up gold instead:

☀️ SUN

Seamus whooped like he'd just won the lottery.

Then Neville stepped forward.

He placed his hand on the crystal… and it flashed a soft, shimmering white.

🌫 VEIL

The entire hall turned.

Neville blinked.

"…Oh."

Draco stared at him like Neville had just cast a silent spell.

Parvati Patil stepped up right after, calm as ever. Her crystal glowed silver-blue.

🌙 MOON

She nodded, as though the universe had simply confirmed something she already suspected.

HUFFLEPUFF

When the Hufflepuffs began their turn, Ron Weasley was practically vibrating.

He slapped his hand onto the crystal—

It burst into cool, soothing silver.

🌙 MOON

Ron punched the air. "YES! FINALLY!"

Someone from the Gryffindor side yelled, "TRAITOR!"

Dudley touched the crystal next. It crackled violently.

⚡ STORM

He grinned. "Knew it! Fits me!"

Then Susan Bones stepped up.

The crystal glowed with a soft, gentle gold-green.

🌿 SPIRIT

A rare cheer broke out from the Ravenclaw section. Spirit was prized there.

Susan blushed and hurried back to her table.

RAVENCLAW

Ravenclaw's line moved with scholarly precision. Many already had guesses.

Hermione stepped forward, took a steadying breath, and placed her palm against the humming surface.

The crystal flared bright, clear green.

🌿 SPIRIT

Hermione gasped. Not even she had expected that.

A solid 20% of Ravenclaws that followed also lit up Spirit—fitting their reputation for disciplined minds.

Most others glowed silver or blue:

🌙 MOON

Except Padma Patil, who flared brilliant gold.

☀️ SUN

She looked shocked; Parvati smirked knowingly.

Then Luna Lovegood floated forward as though being carried on a breeze.

She touched the crystal.

It erupted into swirling shadows and silver mist.

🌫 VEIL

Luna just giggled.

Half the room leaned away from her.

SLYTHERIN

Finally, the house everyone was waiting for.

Most stepped forward and lit the crystal in polished waves of gold and silver.

☀️ SUN

🌙 MOON

☀️ SUN

Slytherins, unsurprisingly, fit neatly into their family's old magical lineages.

Then Daphne Greengrass approached.

The moment her fingers brushed the surface, smokey grey light unfurled like curtains.

🌫 VEIL

She accepted it with a graceful smile.

Next came Theo.

A sinking, hollow silence washed over the hall as the crystal dimmed to an obsidian black—

then pulsed with cold violet.

⚫ VOID

Theo froze.

The room froze with him.

Then Blaise stepped up, amused… until his hand landed on the crystal.

The same dark pulse.

⚫ VOID

Shock rippled across the Slytherin tables.

"Two?" someone whispered.

"Impossible…"

Theo and Blaise exchanged a glance that meant:

We are absolutely not telling our parents about this.

AND THEN—HARRY

Whispers took over the hall.

Even Malfoy swallowed.

Harry stepped forward with no fanfare, no drama… just quiet curiosity.

The crystal seemed to react before he even touched it—

vibrating, humming, light flickering along its facets like it recognized him.

Harry placed his hand on it.

Instant silence.

Then—

A blinding, brilliant eruption of gold, white, and every color at once burst from the crystal like a newborn star, filling the hall with radiance that made even the ghosts shield their eyes.

Dumbledore's smile did not falter.

On the board, glowing letters wrote themselves:

✨ AETHER — THE ORIGIN SPARK

Gasps.

Shouts.

Pure disbelief.

Draco whispered hoarsely, "I told you not to touch it yet!"

Theo slapped his own forehead.

Blaise slid his cupcake away from Harry on reflex.

Daphne simply muttered, "Of course."

And Harry, rubbing his hand, blinked innocently.

"…Did it do something?"

The light slowly faded.

The crystal dimmed back into dormancy.

The Class was silent in a way Hogwarts rarely was—no whispers, no shifting feet, not even the fairies dared to flutter too loudly.

Harry looked around.

At the staring faces.

At the open mouths.

At the very clear fact that half the room was still processing the words Aether — Origin Spark like it was a bad punchline.

He scratched the back of his head.

"So…" Harry said, genuinely curious, "are you all surprised?"

Theo, Blaise, and Daphne answered at the exact same time.

"No."

Harry turned. "Oh. Okay."

That somehow made it worse.

Hermione opened her mouth—closed it—then tried again, only for nothing to come out. Ron stared at Harry like he was seeing him for the first time and realizing he'd skipped several chapters of context.

Across the hall, people leaned toward each other, whispering and then stopping, unsure if whispering about that was even allowed.

Even Dudley—who usually had something loud to say about everything—said nothing. He just stared at Harry, brow furrowed, like his brain had thrown up an error message and refused to continue.

Dumbledore cleared his throat gently.

The sound snapped the room back into motion.

"Well," the Headmaster said pleasantly, as though someone hadn't just lit up the most impossible resonance known to magical theory, "that answers that."

Harry, completely unaware of the existential crisis he had just caused, leaned toward Theo and whispered, "Did I break it?"

Theo stared at him.

"…Harry," he said slowly, "you didn't break the crystal."

Blaise added, deadpan, "You broke several academic theories, though."

Daphne sighed. "And at least three prophecies. Possibly more."

Harry blinked.

"…Sorry?"

Somewhere in the Great Hall, a first-year fainted.

And Dumbledore—still smiling—made a quiet note in his mind:

'So it begins'.

To be continue
