Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

**Maggie's POV**

Auntie Lilian called me to the hospital. She said they found Halia unconscious near one of the forbidden forest areas.

I couldn't breathe for a moment.

Shock hit me first relief so sharp it almost hurt. They found her. My best friend. My sister in every way that mattered. Dad wanted to come with me. Work kept him busy so I went alone.

The past few days were terrible. I wasn't myself. I felt guilty. If I hadn't insisted on going to the mall maybe Halia wouldn't have gone missing. The guilt felt heavy on my chest.

When I got to the hospital I saw Halia lying on the bed with a drip on her arm. Her mom sat beside her while the doctor talked quietly. Her mom nodded as he explained, looking worried.

The moment she saw me she smiled weakly. She sat up. Hugged me tight. I hugged her back.

We are really family.

I was raised by my dad but Halia and I became close after our dads who worked together became friends. When her dad died something broke inside her. I still remember how she cried a lot refused to eat and was fragile. Watching her suffer broke me too.

Since then she changed. She wasn't just sad; she was strange. Different in a way I couldn't explain.

On the day we went to the mall she told me about the blood on her sheets. I tried to calm her down. I was scared. She also told me about a dream that shook her. I didn't know what to think. Something felt wrong.

Then she was kidnapped.

I never understood why those men wanted her. Especially after everything she told me. The memory of that taxi still scares me. The turn the drivers silence.

Tears fell down my cheeks as we stopped hugging.

"They said she was unconscious. She'll be fine after the medication " Auntie Lilian said softly.

I nodded, relieved and looked at Halia. She looked fragile and drained like something precious was taken from her.

I broke the silence and asked, "What about the people who took her?"

I was angry. No one does this to my Halia.

Her mom looked upset for a second before she composed herself. "The police are doing their best to find them."

I held Halia's hand. She moved slightly. I smiled a little.

"You'll be alright " I whispered, kissing her hand gently.

Whoever did this, to you… will pay.
