"Hah... What the hell is even going on at this point?" Katsuri said as she looked at the sword in her hand.
It was a very familiar design. It must be, because it is the exact same sword that she had pulled out from the rubble, the one she had tried to train with but just wouldn't allow her to lift it at all.
Due to that, she can't even figure out her Resonance power...
...She still needed to confirm whether or not her power is related to being able to rewind time with the trigger being her death.
As it turned out, that tentacled monstrosity was super weak. Who would've thought that a single slash from her sword would led to its immediate death?
It wasn't even a full powered slash too, it was just a casual swing with no weight in it whatsoever.
She was just trying to test out the sword that had been summoned out of nowhere, she really didn't expect the crisis to be averted so easily.
Another plus, all the other Tacet Discords scattered right after the tentacle monster died. Perhaps that bastard had a brainwashing power or something that was finally lifted after it's death.
Of course, she didn't chase after any of them, how could she?
Katsuri swiped her cheek, a soft pain was felt as she touched her injury.
'If that guy didn't give me a chance to attack, I would've died.' It was that simple.
In the end, everything happened to work in her favor, she was just luckier than the person before her.
The scale fortunately tipped in her favor.
"...Ah, it's going away." Katsuri's attention turned towards the sky, the dark sky that was still raining.
But the droplets are becoming less frequent, a sign that the storm was about to end.
Perhaps it'll be going to another place, but that's not part of her responsibility.
She had survived, that's all that mattered.
'...I want to sleep. I don't care about anything else.'
She's just so extremely tired right now, she can't think of anything else.
If there's something important that needed her thoughts, she'll leave it to the future her.
She really doesn't want to handle anymore headache inducing scenario.
'Did Danjin prepare dinner for me...?' Katsuri swiped her wet forehead, moving aside her bang so that she could get a clearer view of the sky and the passing storm.
Clap clap clap
Then, an applause was sounded from behind her.
"Marvelous performance! I very much like the routes you've chosen, it was very... original, dare I say. Although the troupe was a bit cliché, nothing beats the relief upon seeing your favorite character survive an ordeal, don't you think?"
"..." Katsuri turned around, her eyes meeting the mask of a playwright.
"It is very much a shame I couldn't make you my main character. But I really can't... otherwise she'd get angry. You know, I've never seen her look so excited before. Now that I've witnessed it firsthand, I very much understand the reason why."
"How wasteful it is, a story is being written yet there's no director in charge. I very much would like to take that role if possible... But it needed to be left empty."
"Why? Because this story doesn't need a my assistance. After all..."
The man bowed down a little, tilting his head forward as a sign of respect.
"-It is already leading towards a tragedy. No need to move the story in any other way."
Katsuri blinked, and the man in red attire disappeared, almost as silent as the wind.
"...Whatever, too much words, didn't process any of it."
She's very tired.
Although she had already slept for practically 4 days previously, she suddenly felt like those 4 days of unconsciousness never happened.
Why does she still feel so lethargic?
'Ah, right. Zani and Rover, I needed to tell them that I'm going home.'
She got a lead now, just got to put the plan to a start first by finding out where they are.
She figured that since they moved away, they probably didn't even realized that she had been attacked by Tacet Discords.
...Ah right, the house is destroy-
Or not?
Why the fuck is the house still intact but her face still bares the wound?!
Oi! Why are you so bias, world!?
At least heal me too!
Katsuri let out her anger towards an intangible being, like any sane person would do.
After calming down, she walked towards the house, not before picking up her jacket that was covered in mud from the rain.
Guess she just needed to wash it back home, then.
She flapped it twice, squinting her eyes at the water that almost got into her eyes.
Annoyed, she simply laid it on her shoulder and made her way towards the house and sat down near the front door, afraid of actually going inside and going through that mess again.
'If I just waited, they'd eventually return, right?' She thought of searching for them, but it would be more efficient for everyone if she just waited here.
After all, there's a reason most rescuers told everyone to just stay at the last place they got stranded in.
To make it easier for them to find the stranded individual.
Same idea here.
Rather than mindlessly going around with no lead, it's better to just wait for them at the place they knew she stayed.
Now, she's got nothing to do.
No rain to admire, no friends to talk to.
...
Yeah, no. She's bored now.
"Faith, are you there?" Katsuri called out.
Silence was everything that met her voice.
Katsuri thought of calling out again but gave up that idea when her head aches.
"Hah, I really want to sleep..." Her eyes slowly fluttered, almost at the brink of slumber.
She just needed that small timeframe, just a single moment, and everything would turn into darkness, the place she found so comforting.
Katsuri covered her yawn, then rubbed her eyes that had become teary.
She leaned back on the wall and closed her eyes, thinking of getting some rest while waiting for the two to come back.
They'd probably wake her up, right?
[Wuthering Waves]
"...So, uh. There's no way we can wake her up, right?" Zani silently whispered to Rover.
Both pair of eyes were watching Katsuri sleeping so peacefully on the floor, it seemed like she had fallen while leaning on the wall.
"...I agree." Rover didn't deny Zani's words.
