Chapter 2 - Preparing to fail. Saying good bye.

Everyone has bias based off of their personal experiences.

It is impossible to please everyone.

If you try to please everyone, you're more likely to loose everyone.

What is more imports to your story, a character, a relationship, a goal, or the overall story itself?

When we find a story that really speaks to us, what elements of that story pull us in the most? Is it a realistic 12 year old mindset of going to a wrestling match to find a teacher after getting turned down at an academy? Is it the sheer scope of possibilities that are presented by a tool or an ability? Is it the shared heart ache of a love story told across decades of time that is shattered due to lies and manipulation? Is it a feeling of strength derived from grinding every day to be better than the day before?

Find what really matters to you about your story. Salvage what can be salvaged, and get rid of the rot. Don't worry about killing off a favorite character if it advances the story and drives home the point. Sometimes an adoring fan gives their life to protect the protagonist or a beloved pet/companion takes the killing blow so they can live. Perhaps an entire planet gets destroyed just so that the enemies plans can be transported off world safely and securely. What happens when the charac6er finally gets the thing they wanted but loose everything that helped th to get there?
