Ice Rain city was quite the spectacle. Lavish buildings tapered in vibrant colors filled the streets. Merchants abound going around selling of their wares. Fine silk, rare delicacies, medicines, carpets, furniture. Every part of culture from Yangoo and the Principality of Yore was on the market here. From buildings with tall spires, to rare techniques only found in Yangoo. Black markets for devil cultivators and sinful artifacts all the way to fine dinning and luxurious hotels.
"We need money" Gu Zhi said.
They had a small amount of spirit stones from running some errands in Love city but most of their wealth was in the resources and techniques they carried rather than in spirit stones. This made sense if you didn't have a storage device but what didn't make sense was them not having one for their amount of wealth.
"Should we pawn off some of our stuff" Gu Xiao said.
"Yes, but the question is what to sell, if we sell something to good it could bite us in the ass".
"We don't have much of a choice. The cheap ones aren't going to be able to get us their in under a year. Even then, it will have limited space, spending everyday at a new city will run our finances into the ground. Unironically we have to spend big on a good one to make up for lost time and save money." Gu Xiao said.
"That makes sense, so should we sell off my technique or some ambrosia" Gu Zhi asked.
"It has to be the ambrosia, no one is going to pay for the technique at the price we want it because it's useless to most people. Only a very small amount of people can make use of it, the chances that there is a buyer who can is slim. Although selling the ambrosia will put a target on our backs, we already have some on our backs. We still have our disguises and protections as long as we get a good flying tool we can outrun any potential enemies" Gu Xiao said.
"Then well do that, let's go to a tea house and ask about some auctions, I have a few questions I need to ask you anyway".
They arrived at a tea house in the city and went to and ordered some drinks.
"I was wondering if you know any prestigious auction houses in the city and when the next auction would be" he asked the waiter.
"The royal Bing families auction house is the most prestigious in this city they will also hold an auction a month from now. Its called the shiny whale".
'Great news' Gu Zhi thought to himself.
"Thank you so much that helps a lot" he flashed the waiter a smile.
"Of course, I will come right back with the tea".
"So, what did you need to ask me about".
"I noticed a sensation when I was being divined by the spy master. It felt like something was observing my soul.... It was very uncomfortable, knowing your experience in divination I wanted to ask about it".
Gu Xiao thought about it before fixing her posture.
"Their are generally three types of divination. One is to use rituals and ask a higher existence for information. Another is to study the stars and various signs to predict the future. The last is to use personal information or knowledge to learn more about someone or something. Judging by your description I would guess that the inquisitors used the first method. Contacting something or someone that is at that level or could be at that level comes with a lot of risks. It is generally the most taught type of divination but the least used in practice. This is because a lot of religions form around responses from these higher beings and because these rituals can bring about the best results. The problem though is that they can also bring about the worst results. If the being of higher power doesn't like the one who contacted it, that person can blow up into blood mist overnight. Sometimes they can go crazy and hallucinate, other times they lose their mind and go insane. It's not uncommon for a group of religious zealots to go extinct overnight due to their flamboyant rituals. Other times people could receive permanent boons that making them significantly stronger for one reason or another. This leads to desperate and very religious people to try their luck in these rituals. I've heard stories about nobodies becoming power houses overnight and about how some are cursed to a fate worse than death. For diviners epically, unless they know the procedure is very safe they tend to stay away from that type of divination. Although some specially specialize in it. These people are called prophets or seers depending on their status and background. Overall though for diviners this group is very rare and special too. Most churches wouldn't let go of their seers so it stands to reason that the person who divined you is either really special, insane, or has a very unique background. Either way it's none of our business now, we need to register our treasure for the auction house and look on their catalogue for transportation tools that could help us".
Transportation tools come in a very wide variety and quality. Some tools could be an orb that allowed you to fly when you touch it. Some where full on space ships letting you travel the cosmos and leave the planet. For cultivators however, you weren't able to afford one of those ships until you were filthily rich. Not to mention you didn't even want to leave the planet unless it's for something very important. Gu Zhi didn't know a lot about the topic but he knew that you weren't really supposed to learn about it until you reached a higher cultivation than nascent soul. Speaking of which, he was curious to what levels of cultivation were above nascent soul.
