The Next Morning
At dawn, countless freshmen were assembled on the school's athletic field. A sturdy-looking instructor was addressing them.
"Good morning, everyone. I'm Sergeant Tyler Young, your tactical instructor! I'm sure you all learned yesterday what lurks in Forbidden Zone #2. To ensure you survive out there, you'll undergo a month of rigorous physical combat training. Now, everyone, run ten laps around the field!"
A chorus of complaints rose up, but no one dared refuse. They all knew this training was for their own good without it, their puny physiques would mean a high mortality rate in Zone #2.
Only Vincent Fox remained calm. His daily regimen already included a 10 km run; ten laps here weren't even that far. When the others collapsed in exhaustion, Vincent feigned fatigue and sat to rest.
By midday, the morning drills were over and, after a brief rest, Sergeant Young pushed them into more exercises. The entire morning was spent training.
Afternoon Lecture
In the afternoon, Professor Charles Joe took the podium again to introduce new material.
"Once you enter Forbidden Zone #2, you'll face three mission options:
1. Eliminate all infected mutated creatures, including zombies.
2. Rescue survivors.
3. Eradicate the virus and save the world.
You may choose only one mission. Although Option 3 offers the greatest reward even a random new ability I strongly advise against it. It's simply impossible.
Zone #2 is an apocalyptic wasteland. Mutated beasts and zombies roam freely, and survivors are extremely rare. Communications are down, society has collapsed, and you have only thirty days. Trying to redeem a world in ruins within that time is a fool's errand. Failure means being trapped there forever.
Our nation has sent elite forces multiple times to attempt Option 3, but they all failed, suffering heavy losses. If they couldn't succeed, what chance do you have? Option 3 is widely recognized as unbeatable. So, when you enter Zone #2, don't overestimate yourselves. Play it safe Option 1 or 2."
Hearing this, Vincent's face remained serene, but his heart pounded. He never expected the choice structure to be exactly this. Professor Joe's logic was airtight ordinary people had almost no chance at Option 3.
But Vincent was different. In his previous life, he'd watched every Resident Evil movie and knew the world's plot inside and out. He alone understood the true way to save the Zone #2 universe: the T-Virus vaccine.
In the original storyline, heroine Alice Abernathy released the T-Virus serum at the final moment. The airborne vaccine cured every infected creature worldwide, eradicating the T-Virus and saving humanity.
Vincent's eyes gleamed with excitement. He held the key to accomplishing what no one else could even the government's best operatives.
He closed his eyes and whispered, "Option 3."
