Chapter 6 - Demon stration ; R e a l i t y

"Ryn! Your trainer is here! The one we talked about a week ago!"

Ophelia called his name from the front door, and Ryn instantly put his empty plate in the dirty dishes without thinking twice, then rushed towards the front door which was located just at the left corner of the kitchen, his heart beating fast with excitement and his feet making quick tapping sounds on the wooden floor as he moved through the house like a bolt of lightning. He moved so quickly that his chair almost fell over behind him, but he didn't care at all because he had been waiting for this moment all week long and thinking about it every single day.

—YES! HE'S FINALLY HERE AND I CAN START LEARNING REAL MAGIC AT LAST!

Ryn screamed in his thoughts while feeling excited as hell, his mind racing with all the fun possibilities of what he might learn and how strong he could become with proper training. When he arrived at the front door where his mother was standing, he was breathing heavily and felt completely tired from running through the house so fast, but his excitement made him ignore his tiredness completely and focus only on meeting his new teacher.

"I'm Ryn, nice to meet you Teacher!"

Ryn didn't hesitate to bow deeply in front of him, lowering his head as a sign of respect and showing that he was serious about learning from this man who would teach him magic.

—Oh, he's well-mannered and respectful, which is very rare for children his age! This is definitely a child worth training and teaching magic to!

The man thought while smiling at him, feeling impressed by Ryn's polite behavior and eagerness to learn something new and challenging.

"I'm Zhan, and I'm a professional B4 ranked mage who will be your teacher from now on."

"B4!? You must be really strong and skilled at magic, Teacher Zhan!"

"W-well... I wouldn't really call myself that strong compared to other mages who are much better than me..."

—I think Ryn will get along with him nicely and learn a lot from this training, which will help him grow stronger!

Ophelia smiled at the thought while looking at how much her son had grown and how excited he was to start his magical education with this kind teacher.

"Well, let's waste no time at all, and get started with your first lesson, Ryn."

Ryn sat down on the soft, green grass in their backyard while waving his feet left and right as he waited patiently for Zhan to start the lesson, his eyes sparkling with excitement and curiosity about what he would learn today. Zhan put down all of his teaching materials and equipment carefully on the ground next to him, then stretched his arms and legs to prepare himself for what was going to be a long training session that would take many hours.

"Alright, are you ready to listen to my long blabbering and endless yapping about magic and how it works?"

Zhan asked with his arms hanging at his side while grinning widely, waiting to see how Ryn would react to his casual way of speaking and teaching style.

"I'LL DO ANYTHING IT TAKES TO LEARN MAGIC AND BECOME STRONG ENOUGH TO PROTECT EVERYONE!"

Ryn said loudly while raising his left hand into a tight fist high up in the air, his voice filled with determination and passion that showed how much he wanted to learn. Zhan could tell that he was really excited about learning magic and not just pretending, and he felt pretty surprised and happy to know that Ryn was willing to listen to a long speech about the basics of magic without complaining or getting bored.

"Oh, and please skip all the basic stuff because I've already learned it all by myself during my free time!"

Zhan froze completely from shock and his eyes widened in complete disbelief at what he had just heard from this young child who was only five years old. There was no way that a child could have learned and mastered all of the basic magic knowledge and techniques within just a few years of living, especially without any proper teacher to guide him.

"O-oh..? Would you mind showing me your skills so I can see what you know and how much you've learned?"

"Of course Teacher, I'd be happy to show you everything I can do!"

"What magic type have you learned and practiced the most so far?"

Ryn paused for a second and thought about it carefully while trying to remember exactly what he had practiced the most during his free time when nobody was watching. He had forgotten some details about his training, but he was pretty sure that he had learned the basics of wind magic and could control air to some degree with his spells.

"I think it was wind magic that I practiced the most and got good at..."

"Alright, show me what you can do with wind magic and don't hold back."

<-<-<-<-<-<-༒︎->->->->->->

As Ryn got ready to show his abilities and Zhan sat down on the grass to watch him carefully, it was finally time for Ryn to show off his magical skills and prove that he wasn't lying about knowing magic. Zhan still had his doubts about a child being able to learn magic so quickly without help, but he wanted to see it with his own eyes and witness the power that this young child claimed to have learned by himself.

"I'm ready to start now, Teach!"

Ryn waved his hand in the distance while signaling to Zhan that he was ready to show his wind magic, with a confident smile spread across his face that showed he wasn't nervous at all.

"Alright, go on and do it!"

Zhan yelled just loud enough to let Ryn hear him clearly from where he was standing in the yard, his voice carrying across the open space.

"Show me that you have truly learned the basics of wind magic!"

As Ryn raised his small hand slightly while still facing the ground in front of him, he carefully remembered everything he needed to know to use the spell properly and safely without hurting anyone. He closed his eyes and focused his mind on the magic he was about to cast, thinking about all the theory and practice he had done by himself when he was alone in his room.

—There was one important thing I had figured out ever since I started studying magic in this world, and it was that everyone had already forgotten about the most important part in casting magic, which was using your imagination and being creative with your spells.

—The real secret to powerful magic was to clearly picture what you want to happen, understand the reason why it works the way it does, and then cast the spell with confidence and control over your magical energy.

—Right now, I wanted to remove all of the air out of a single, tightly packed spot in front of me, and that clear picture in my mind was the most important part of making the spell work properly.

—And how will I actually do it using wind magic that I learned? Wind magic is all about controlling air and making it move the way you want, so it can do the most amazing and powerful things, just by using your imagination and understanding of how air works in the real world.

—I need to start by picturing a balloon in my mind, and then fill it up with air, gas, or anything else I want to put inside it to make it bigger. After that step, the balloon will grow bigger and larger as more air gets pushed into it, stretching the material to its limits until it's ready to burst.

—And after that step is done, I punch a hole in the balloon with my magic, and it will either pop loudly and suddenly, or slowly get smaller as the air escapes through the hole I made.

—So, why does this actually happen in the real world and how can I use this knowledge to make my magic stronger?

—When the air suddenly escapes from the compressed space, it will make the area around it have a sudden and big increase of air pressure, causing anything in that space to be crushed and pressed into tiny bits.

—And then with the sudden decrease of air pressure that follows after, the crushed area will suddenly expand again like an explosion, making everything around it blow apart with great force and power. That process is called decompression, and it's very dangerous and can cause a lot of damage if used wrong.

Ryn explained everything in his thoughts while focusing his magical energy and feeling it flow through his body, finally feeling ready to cast the spell and show his teacher what he could do with his magic.

*CRUNCH*

A loud crushing sound was heard in the distance along with bright green particles floating in the air like tiny stars, making the air thicker and heavier in that area while crushing the ground beneath and creating a huge crater in the earth that was deep and wide. But that still wasn't all of the spell's power and destruction, because the tiny ball of crushed ground had reacted to the sudden decrease in air pressure around it, making it expand rapidly and explode with tremendous force that shook the ground, leaving a crater that was five times more deadly, destructive, and explosive than the first half of the attack.

Zhan fell backward onto his back while feeling completely shocked and in total disbelief at what he had just seen with his own eyes, his mouth hanging open in surprise. This level of magical talent and understanding had long passed even the legendary Past Hero: Haniel Van Dorante, who was considered one of the greatest and most powerful mages in the history of their world! He just couldn't believe that such a young child could have this kind of incredible power and deep knowledge about magic without any formal training.

—Just what kind of magical monster and genius child AM I DEALING WITH HERE!??!?
