Chapter 21 - Valoran?

Aiden's appearance immediately attracted the attention of everyone present. However, he quickly realized that people were actually staring at the angel, Kayle, beside him. The appearance of this mythical being in reality caused a sensation that was unimaginable.

The people of Azeroth might have seen dragons, but almost none had ever seen an angel.

Archbishop Faol, who had been somewhat listless, stared at Kayle and muttered to himself, "What a perfect being!"

Whether out of some unknown motivation, someone challenged Aiden as soon as he sat down. A minister standing behind the king on the second level of the throne room spoke first: "Mr. Aiden, I don't know what means you used to convince Uther and Prince Arthas of your 'Scourge Threat Theory,' but forgive my bluntness, I still cannot understand how this marginal force, which only dares to hide in deserted corners, could have the ability to shake the foundations of the kingdom."

"Your Excellency, when they can appear openly before us without hiding, that is when we should be the ones hiding. Knowing the threat, yet ignoring it, waiting until it is unstoppable before realizing we are powerless?" Aiden retorted sharply.

Another minister then opened fire: "Only you 'know.' I heard you are relying on a prophet who is completely invisible to support your claims. So, where is this prophet? We would be very willing to hear his guidance in person."

Aiden countered: "Are you saying that if you and everyone else who doubts this haven't personally heard the prophet's words, the Cult of the Damned won't rise and the Scourge won't descend? I've heard that when ostriches encounter danger, they bury their heads in the sand, then stick their butts up waiting for the danger to pass—that way, they can't see the danger, so they think the danger won't come. Truly pathetic and laughable creatures."

Perhaps this area-of-effect attack stimulated the sensitive points of even more people. A minister shouted loudly, "Forgive me for finding it hard to believe that someone who suddenly appears would be so enthusiastic about helping another kingdom that is completely foreign to him. You keep saying you represent Valoran, so what is Valoran? Isn't it just some desolate island in the Endless Ocean?" His words caused a burst of laughter.

Aiden narrowed his eyes slightly, scanning over these people who disgusted him. King Terenas didn't seem to have any intention of stopping these people's unreasonable behavior, which made him a little disheartened. A thought suddenly popped into his mind: If this kingdom is determined to slide into the abyss and refuses to grasp at the lifeline, he has no choice but to abandon it.

Archmage Antonidas, unable to stand it any longer, was about to speak when the Judicator Angel Kayle suddenly stood forward.

"Silence!"

Her wings fluttered as she floated in the air, looking down at everyone, her gaze beneath her helmet incomparably cold:

"Standing before you is the commander recognized by a population of millions on the continent of Valoran; is the one to whom the Demacian Kingdom, the Noxus Federation, Ionia, Bandle City, Piltover, the Shadow Isles, Bilgewater, Mount Targon, and all the forces of Runeterra put their trust in; he is the leader of the expedition supported by humans, angels, yordles and all other intelligent beings!"

The place names that appeared in this long introduction were completely unfamiliar to everyone. But even the dullest person could understand what a population of 1.9 million, over a hundred heroes, and nineteen demigods or gods meant.

Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, and the like, although they didn't know the specific scale, it was possible that these names represented forces no less powerful than the Kingdom of Lordaeron.

You should know that the entire Eastern Kingdoms had no more than three million humans in total—and they were distributed among seven different countries.

What did this mean?

The power hidden behind this young man, who didn't seem particularly outstanding, was much stronger than that of Terenas, the ruler of the Kingdom of Lordaeron!

After this shocking introduction, Kayle coldly mocked: "Our summoner, out of a sense of righteousness and goodwill, is willing to help you, which is your honor. But judging from your attitude, this alliance is already strong enough to cope with all threats."

Many people's faces burned with shame, and they felt almost mortified. But Kayle's aura was too strong, and they didn't dare to refute at all—that's right, she was a god who had ruled the Eternal Kingdom for countless years. Although her power had been weakened a lot now, it was not something mere mortals could resist.

Kayle landed again, returned to Aiden's side, and said in a low voice: "This kingdom is destined to become ruins, let's go, summoner, we shouldn't waste time in such a decaying and dying country."

Aiden blinked and quietly gave Kayle a thumbs up: That was awesome.

Hearing her say that, Aiden realized that he was actually quite a big deal. But the problem was, he didn't know how many years it would take to summon all those people, over a hundred heroes, and demigods. He might have to spend his whole life on it.

He and Kayle turned and walked out, whispering, "I'm so happy, it feels so good to be defended!"

The corners of Kayle's lips curled up slightly, but Aiden was destined not to see it. He now understood Medivh's feelings at the time: when you come forward with good intentions to offer a warning, others ruthlessly discard your kindness. Before seeing the real danger, people are always blindly optimistic, as the saying goes, "They won't shed tears until they see the coffin."

In the throne room behind them, Arthas said eagerly to King Terenas, "Father, we can't abandon an ally so rashly!"

King Terenas raised his hand, signaling his son to stop: "It's too early to say all this now. If such a terrible thing were to happen, then that young man and his angel wouldn't be of much use. We can't start a war over an unconfirmed possibility, or even rebuild the alliance for a dangerous northern expedition. Son, I've seen so many people in my life. This young man may be well-intentioned, but as a king, we can't rashly believe what people say."

Uther said in a deep voice: "Your Majesty, my heart tells me we should believe him."

Antonidas shook his head with some disappointment and said, "King Terenas, I'm afraid I can't stay here any longer." He got up and left, preparing to catch up with Aiden.

Archbishop Faol coughed twice, trying not to show any pain, and also left the scene.

Terenas couldn't help but turn his gaze to the stern-faced admiral beside him.

Daelin Proudmoore met his gaze: "As a ruler, I agree with your view." Because in the last siege battle, his navy did not directly face the Cult of the Damned, so the harm it caused was only hearsay. Therefore, this king was more inclined to Terenas' approach.

"However, I think it's appropriate to send people to hunt down Kel'Thuzad, and we can also send people to investigate Northrend to see if it has really fallen into the hands of Kel'Thuzad's master," Daelin added.

"Yes, this is the most prudent approach at the moment."

With the king's support, the ministers who had been intimidated by Kayle regained their activity, and the atmosphere was even more enthusiastic than before, as if to vent the dissatisfaction that had just been suppressed.

At this moment, a crow flew through the corridor and into the front hall, landing lightly in the hall. Its intelligent eyes turned, looking at the king for a moment, and then at the surrounding ministers. When it heard King Terenas' decision, a change occurred: a cloud of green mist surrounded the crow, and its body underwent an extremely magical transformation. The wings on its back turned into a dark red cloak, and the other parts of its body turned into an old man.

If Aiden had stayed in the hall, he would have recognized the identity of the wizard who appeared in this way—he was the Guardian Medivh!

Terenas and Daelin stared intently at the suddenly appearing wizard, their expressions quite displeased. Such uninvited behavior of breaking into the king's presence was really unsettling.

Medivh bowed to the two kings, and then said: "Your Majesties, humanity is now in danger. The Dark Tide has once again descended on this world. Everything is on the brink of war!"

A minister shouted in panic: "Enough, intruder, we've already heard such rhetoric! Guards, get this wizard out of here!"

Two guards immediately obeyed, grabbing the wizard's arms on either side.

"Listen to me!" Medivh said hurriedly, "This continent is no longer safe. The only hope is to have your people cross the Great Sea to the forgotten ancient continent of Kalimdor. Staying here is destined to perish with this place!"

King Terenas snorted coldly: "Go west? Are you crazy, wizard? Stop talking. I don't know who instructed you to spread such rumors. Our land is now being harassed by orcs and infiltrated by an evil cult. As king, I must protect my people and make them live and work in peace, not abandon their homes for a vague prophecy. I've heard enough of such self-righteous prophecies. Now get out of here!"

The guards pushed the wizard hard. He looked a little thin, but the two strong royal guards couldn't move him.

Medivh said in a deep voice: "I once lost my humanity, but I won't do that again. If you insist on not accepting my advice, then I will go and find the next target worthy of warning."

Then, without the guards driving him away, he turned around and left with a flick of his cloak.

A whisper entered Arthas' ears, and he heard the strange wizard say: "I have warned you, now you will face the fate you have chosen."
