Her eyes burned with equal parts regret and defiance.
A soft ding echoed from the laptop.
A new message.
"I never stopped." —SC
She smiled bitterly.
"Neither did I."
FLASHBACK – THE NIGHT EVERYTHING BROKE
The city was drowning in neon rain, streets slick and unforgiving.
Su Chen and Yue Lin had met beneath flickering streetlights, words sharp but hearts softer than they dared admit.
"Trust me," he whispered, fingers brushing her cheek.
"You shouldn't," she said. "Not anymore."
