Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – Assessing

She slowly took a deep breath and decided to explore this place called Xianzhou Luofu.

"I have to start looking around this new place. From what I can gather from this body's memories, it's a ship moving through the galaxy in a fixed direction." Yun Yi searched through the fragments of memory she had inherited.

"Even if I have some of her memories, I haven't experienced it personally. There's no harm in taking a walk."

She walked to the wardrobe in the room, picked out a simple outfit, and glanced at herself in the mirror.

"This is interesting... now that I get a good look, this body still resembles my previous self. Could this be a side effect of my soul?" she pondered.

"There's a high probability that it's caused by the cultivation technique I practiced in my past life. After all, even in my second life, my eyes weren't originally red." She remembered that this body's original eye color was brown—this crimson hue must be the result of residual spiritual influence.

"Speaking of which, this body's identity seems to be that of a foreigner looking for work, and she recently purchased a small residential unit here." Yun Yi recalled from the memories she inherited.

After completing her preparations, she stepped outside and walked along the busy streets. The city bustled with activity—people of various races passed by: Foxians, Vidyadharas, native Xianzhou dwellers, ordinary humans, and more.

"So this is one of those long-lived races... well, even if they do live longer, in the end, they're still mortals." Yun Yi silently observed the crowd around her.

"But I can't really say anything either. Right now, I'm also back in a mortal body."

As she muttered to herself, her stomach growled slightly. A surprised expression crossed her face.

"Right… I need sustenance. Let's get something to eat."

She approached a small food stall and looked at the menu.

"Excuse me, can I see the list of available dishes?" Yun Yi asked the vendor, who happened to be a Vidyadhara woman.

"Sure, here you go. You're a foreigner, right? First time visiting?" the vendor smiled as she handed over the menu.

"Yes, this is my first time here," Yun Yi replied politely, taking the menu.

"So, what do you think of Luofu so far?"

"It's certainly a huge place, filled with all kinds of people," she answered simply while scanning the list.

Steamed Puffergoat Milk — 1,800 credits

...and more

"This is a tough choice... Let's go with the skewers," Yun Yi decided after a moment.

"I'll take one Berrypheasant Skewer," she told the vendor.

"Alright, here's your order, young lady," the vendor said cheerfully, handing her the food.

"Thanks." Yun Yi handed over the credits and took the skewer.

"I'm curious… judging by the smell, it must be sweet." She took a bite and chewed slowly.

"It is sweet. How long has it been since I last tasted something like this? Mortal food… it's been so long, I can't even remember."

She spent a good while wandering around Exalting Sanctum, taking in the atmosphere, until she noticed the sky darkening.

"Nightfall... on a ship? Did they artificially simulate this to help maintain people's daily rhythm?" she wondered, then turned around and headed back to her residence.

After returning home, Yun Yi took a shower and lay down in her bedroom.

"So this is the end of my first day. I still need to sleep since I haven't started cultivating yet," she thought, mentally laying out her plans.

"I must begin cultivating again soon. But this body is still too weak. I'll have to condition it first. If everything goes well, I can begin in a few months. If not, it could take a year."

"Honestly, there's no need to rush. What matters most is building a solid foundation. With my past experience and the chances this world might offer, I may even reach a higher realm than before."

Having resolved her thoughts, Yun Yi closed her eyes slowly, drifting off into sleep.
