Only an extremely small portion of living beings are qualified to know what kind of connection exists between the land beneath their feet and the starry sky above their heads.
When Zhu Ziyang first learned that he was actually living on a massive sphere, his emotions were one of utter shock, immense complexity, and yet it also felt reasonable, as if it ought to be this way.
Douluo Star—this is the name the God of Death gave to the sphere where the Douluo Continent is located. It is an ordinary yet not-so-ordinary planet within the starry domain known as the Dragon God Domain. Douluo Continent is merely one of many continents on Douluo Star, though the most unique one.
The God of Death told him that, whether it be Douluo Continent, the Martial Soul Continent, or the other five continents on Douluo Star, in the beginning, they were all parts of a single continent. They called it the Divine Continent. During the great calamity of the God Realm, the gods waged war, causing the Divine Continent to split into seven pieces, resulting in the current layout of land and sea on Douluo Star.
The God of Death also told him that Douluo Star was once the central star of the Dragon God Domain, once a planet that unquestionably deserved the title of divine star.
Generally speaking, the existence of any planet at any given moment cannot be isolated, which is why the starry sky becomes the primary unit constituting the universe. Within a single starry sky, there are often hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of planets. Thus, planets are the foundational units of the universe and the primary carriers of cosmic life.
Therefore, the structure of the universe is very simple: countless planets form starry skies, and countless starry skies form the universe. That's it—very simple.
But is that truly the case?
The God of Death bluntly said it was impossible. This is merely a possibility in an ideal state. The true universe is, in fact, a vast emptiness. Within this emptiness exist countless faint points of light—these lights are starry skies. Beyond these countless lights lies an endless expanse of black, which is called the Abyss.
Thus, the true universe is like a painting: the canvas is gray, representing the void; the dominant color on the canvas is black, representing the Abyss; and on the canvas are scattered, not particularly bright, yet indispensable points of light, representing starry skies.
Such a straightforward description dealt a tremendous shock to Zhu Ziyang's worldview, but the God of Death stated that this was something he must accept to bear the position of God King.
The Dragon God Domain, where Douluo Star reside,s is an unremarkable one among the countless starry skies. The highest level of life is only at the God King level. Such starry skies are innumerable in the universe, like grains of sand in a desert—small and abundant. Even beings at the God King level can barely set foot into the void; freely roaming the universe is essentially impossible.
The God of Death once smiled and told Zhu Ziyang that he was both very fortunate and very unfortunate.
Fortunate because he was born on Douluo Star—as long as he successfully inherits the position of the God of Death, he will possess God King-level strength without needing arduous cultivation to reap the rewards.
Unfortunate because he was born on Douluo Star. The cultivation system of the Douluo God Realm has an enormous flaw: divine positions allow a god's strength to rapidly rise to a certain realm, but this is actually a cultivation system that has long been eliminated in the greater universe. True gods should undergo a leap in life level, not a mere accumulation of cultivation levels.
The divine positions of the Douluo God Realm are both a crown and a shackle for gods. They hinder gods from leaping to higher life levels. Therefore, the God of Death warned Zhu Ziyang, hoping he would not overly rely on the power of the divine position. If possible, before his own life level reaches the God King stage, it would be best not to use the power of the divine position. Only then can he avoid being bound by it.
The divine position guarantees your lower limit, but the upper limit of a true god should not stop there—thus spoke the God of Death.
In the Dragon God Domain, the only one with hope of breaking through the God King level and stepping into a realm above was the Dragon God alone. However, the Dragon God was not a native of the Douluo starry sky. He came from the void and happened to witness the birth of the Douluo divine star. That was at the beginning of the second era after the opening of the Douluo starry sky. The accumulation of one era allowed the laws of the Douluo starry sky to successfully give birth to a divine star, and the Dragon God's arrival coincided with witnessing its birth.
Thus, the Dragon God, with God King strength, reached a cooperation with the newborn divine star. The Dragon God was responsible for teaching the young native gods on the divine star, while the divine star provided the Dragon God with a divine domain to comprehend the path beyond the God King. And so, the Douluo starry sky became the Dragon God Domain.
After reaching cooperation with the divine star, the Dragon God very responsibly taught eight native gods, like an old father, though the Dragon God at that time had only just reached adulthood. The eight young native gods were very dependent on the Dragon God and very obedient to his teachings.
And so, approximately fifty thousand years passed. The eight native gods of Douluo Star all reached adulthood. Under the witness of the Dragon God and the divine star, they paired off into couples, constructing the foundation and origin of the Douluo God Realm. They were called the Eight Kings of the God Realm!
The origin of the Eight Kings of the God Realm is actually very simple.
At the beginning of the opening of the Douluo starry sky, Douluo Star was born in the center of the starry sky. Above Douluo Star appeared a spring eye, from which two opposite origins continuously surged. They quickly formed a Taiji around the spring eye, equally dividing Douluo Star and the Douluo starry sky into two parts. Finally, that initial spring eye split into two, moving up and down, transforming into the two "fish eyes" of the Taiji.
The Taiji, symbolizing the ultimate principle of the universe, appeared on Douluo Star. The yang pole was golden, the yin pole was purple, and the creation and destruction of all things flowed between them. The fish eye of the yang pole was white, the fish eye of the yin pole was green. A simple and unadorned seed appeared at the position of the initial eye, sprouting two identical tender buds—one growing upward, immersing into the white eye of the yang pole; the other growing downward, immersing into the green eye of the yin pole.
Two ancient trees grew from the two "fish eyes." Their roots were connected, but their branches and leaves were vastly different. The upper one was gray-white, with no flowers or leaves on its branches and trunks; the aura of twilight flowed upon it, drawing the end of time. The lower one was emerald green, with lush and vibrant branches and leaves; the vigor of dawn emanated from it, spurring the rush of time.
From that initial spring eye emerged four unknowable, unseeable, unspeakable, indescribable beings. They were extremely mysterious. The only thing that could be perceived was their aura: pure and untainted pink, ink-like nocturnal black, vibrant and multicolored, and cold and hard red. They awakened on the green ancient tree, played in the golden spring water, frolicked in the purple spring water, rested on the white ancient tree, and cycled through good, evil, emotion, and reason among themselves.
After endless ages, they welcomed their teacher—the Dragon God.
Under the Dragon God's guidance, they quickly mastered their instincts and learned to control their immense power. Ultimately, pink and black were the first to leave the primordial land, becoming the God Kings who governed the good and evil of living beings—the first-generation God of Kindness and the first-generation God of Evil. Multicolored and red followed closely, becoming the God Kings who managed the order of living beings—the first-generation God of Emotion and the first-generation God of Reason, or rather, the first-generation Rakshasa God and the first-generation Asura God. The white ancient tree and the green ancient tree, the golden spring water and the purple spring water, simultaneously left the primordial land, becoming the four God Kings who wielded the life, death, creation, and destruction of heaven and earth—the first-generation God of Death and God of Life, the first-generation God of Creation and God of Destruction.
Life, death, creation, destruction—the foundation of the world's existence; good, evil, emotion, reason—the origin of the world's operation.
After the birth of the Eight Kings of the God Realm, the Douluo God Realm and the Douluo starry sky began to rapidly develop and expand. The mighty power of the nine God Kings freely scattered divine radiance across the starry sky. Native planets quickly submitted to the leadership of the God Realm, newly born gods greatly bolstered the God Realm's strength, and various unfamiliar races delighted the Dragon God's heart.
Soon, the Dragon God's offspring appeared in the Douluo starry sky. The Dragon God demonstrated to the eight God Kings the promiscuity and universal love of dragons. Nearly every race in the Douluo starry sky bore the marks of his romantic debts. However, a god who could truly earn the Dragon God's sincere heart never appeared.
Speaking of this, the God of Death couldn't help but complain about the Dragon God's scumbag behavior. When this guy descended to the lower realms to seduce young females of other races, he mostly transformed his appearance. The two forms he used most often were a golden dragon and a silver dragon—the origins of the golden bloodline and silver bloodline on the Douluo Continent.
Of course, the Dragon God also descended in his true form at times. In such cases, the offspring he left behind often inherited more of the Dragon God's bloodline and power, thus having better talent and greater strength. Therefore, the offspring left by the Dragon God's true form shared a common title: the Sons of the Dragon God.
The exact number of the Sons of the Dragon God is uncertain, but many are famous. For example, his descendant with the Golden Lion—Suanni; or with the Heavenly Wolf—Ya Zi; or with the Heavenly Tiger—Bi An.
Ahem, got off track.
At the peak of the Douluo God Realm's development, it possessed nearly twenty God Kings and governed over three hundred and sixty planets. Before the great calamity of the God Realm, the gods of the God Realm were preparing to cross the void and launch an expedition into the Abyss, attempting to connect the Dragon God Domain with other starry skies.
However, the great calamity of the God Realm turned all of this into nothing. The Dragon God severed his own divine position, transforming into the Golden Dragon King and the Silver Dragon King. Among the Eight Kings of the God Realm, the God of Death and the God of Creation perished, the God of Emotion's divine position was damaged, the remaining five kings were severely injured, the Douluo dragon clan created by the Dragon God was destroyed in one fell swoop, the nine dragon kings and the Sons of the Dragon God all fell, more than half of the gods of the God Realm perished, the millions of years of glory of the Douluo God Realm were destroyed in an instant, and Douluo Star was directly severed from the God Realm, barely preserving itself and the God Realm. But because of this, Douluo Star fell to an ordinary spirit star, and the God Realm fell from ruling the starry sky to isolating itself, becoming a rootless tree.
In short, the starting point and endpoint of everything originated from that great calamity of the God Realm tens of thousands of years ago. Speaking of which, the martial soul system on Douluo Star also emerged from that time. Countless divine blood rained down across the entire continent, and humanity benefited from it, obtaining the bloodlines and abilities of the gods, thus gaining martial souls.
Thinking about it now, what a pity—thus spoke the God of Death!
