Marie's POV
Something was off. I knew it.
They think I'm stupid, but I see it all. I had been pretending to stare down at my napkin, but I was sure of what I saw when I saw Deanna whisper to Marcus for him to give her a minute. Marcus had looked at her strangely, and she had mouthed the word "go." He stood up a short time later and left, pretending he needed to use the bathroom.
I was still wondering why she sent him away when she pulled that stunt. Practically throwing her glass of wine at me.
That was when I understood. She wanted to spend time alone with Mancini.
I mean, she could have just asked. I didn't care what stupid thing they wanted to discuss.
Mancini was irritated when I tried to wipe out the stain on my dress. It sucked that my dress was ruined. I hadn't wanted to dress up and follow Mancini where he was going, but that didn't mean I wanted to look like I was wearing some dirty clothes.
