Prologue

A Sight of Chaos

It was a sight of pure chaos, terror, and destruction.

What was once a city of hope in a ruined world filled with demons and monsters was now just as devastated as the world itself. Human blood flowed like rivers from countless places, painting a grim picture of annihilation. Amidst all of this, a lone man knelt—not by choice, but because his left leg had been ripped off by a being that even demons feared.

The creature stood tall, with two enormous black wings growing out of its back and two sharp horns protruding from its head. The rest of its body appeared human—except for the eyes. Those eyes were pitch black, hiding a darkness far greater than one could imagine.

The man, seemingly in his 30s, had black hair and brown eyes. He was on the verge of death. Summoning the last of his strength, he looked up at the creature and spoke:

"Your vessel was pretty good. To think it could contain almost half of your power… Looks like I gave him less credit than he deserved. Damn him."

The being said nothing. It just stared at him.

"Come on," the man coughed, "a few words won't kill you. Be more social."

Still, the being stared back in silence.

"You were quite strong for a human," it finally said. "A much more capable vessel than this body I inhabit."

"Oh, come on! You got a body that good and you're still complaining? Have some decency," the man smirked weakly.

The being stared back, unblinking.

"So what now—" the man began, but he never finished.

In a flash, the creature ripped his head from his body. And with that single act, it annihilated all remaining life on planet Earth.

To the man's own surprise, he suddenly woke up—gasping in shock. Somehow, he was completely uninjured. His body was whole again. No wounds, no pain.

Confused, he stumbled to a mirror and froze.

Staring back at him was a child—with black hair and brown eyes.
