Chapter 8 - Dance practice

**ELARA'S POV**

After classes, Ivy and I walked back to my place, ready for some practice. "You can change into something comfy; I'll lend you mine. You looked super cute last time you wore them," I said, watching her cheeks turn a soft shade of pink. It's adorable how she blushes—she's so petite and sweet. A tiny wave of concern flickered in my mind about whether she's eating enough, but I pushed it away, focusing on the moment. I handed her a pair of my shorts and a loose t-shirt, letting her disappear into the washroom to freshen up while I changed into something more comfortable myself.

When she came out dressed in my clothes, she looked beautiful as always. I couldn't help but let my eyes linger on her for a moment, drinking in the sight of her. "Let's start," I said, turning on the ball music we'd picked out earlier. I knew how to dance, but Ivy was a total newbie, so I was prepared for a bit of a challenge. But dancing with her would be fun.

As the music filled the room, I moved closer, showing her a few basic steps. "Just follow my lead," I encouraged, demonstrating the rhythm. Ivy watched closely, her big eyes focused on every motion I made. I couldn't help but smile at her concentration—it was so endearing. We started with a simple two-step, and I kept the energy light and playful. If I stumbled, I laughed it off, teasing her, "See, even pros mess up!"

Ivy's laughter sparkled through the room, and it filled me with a sense of warmth. As we continued dancing, I found myself feeling more and more at ease. Each time I caught her gaze, my heart did a little flip. I loved the way she seemed to come alive in the music, even as she stumbled over her own feet. "Don't worry; you're doing great!" I said, guiding her through another move. We swayed to the beat, and I could feel my excitement building every time she laughed at herself.

"Okay, now let's try to put some flair into it!" I suggested, doing a little spin and showing her how to add some personality to our routine. Ivy tried, and while she wasn't quite there yet, I could see her determination shining through. After a few more attempts, I finally said, "Let's take a break and just enjoy the music for a bit." We collapsed onto the floor, both of us panting and giggling, the exhilaration still crackling in the air.

"You're really good at this," Ivy said, her eyes twinkling. I felt myself blush in return, unsure how to respond. I loved that she thought I was good, but the truth was, being with her made every move feel effortless and exciting. "Thanks! Honestly, it's a lot more fun with you here," I admitted, and I meant it.

As the hours rolled by, we tried out different styles, from quirky hip-hop moves to graceful twirls. Each new rhythm brought more laughter and occasional missteps, but Ivy wore each blunder with grace, making it all feel like part of the fun. I lost track of time, completely absorbed in our own little world.

Eventually, the music slowed, and we collapsed again onto the floor, breathless and happy. "I think I might actually make a dancer out of you," I joked, nudging her shoulder lightly. She laughed, playfully rolling her eyes. "Yeah, right. I can barely keep up!"

It was then that I realized how quickly the day had slipped away. "Oh wow, I need to get you home before it gets too late!" I said, hopping up to find my shoes. Ivy laughed, still sprawled on the floor. "Do you always have to be responsible?" she teased, but I could see she didn't really mind.

"Nope! Just when it's after dark and you live in a place where I can't be reckless," I winked, helping her to her feet and giving her a teasing push to move. We tidied up the space, the remnants of our playful chaos littered across the floor like a badge of the fun we'd had.

Once we were ready, we headed out, side by side, the night wrapping around us like a cozy blanket. I enjoyed the quiet moments as we walked, the glow of the streetlights lighting our path. It felt nice to just be in this shared silence, but I also wanted to keep the conversation going.

"So, what did you think of dancing? Are you ready to turn pro?" I asked with a smirk. Ivy feigned a dramatic gasp. "Only if you promise to be my coach!" she shot back. "Deal! No refunds, though," I laughed.

As we neared her house, the familiar sight of her front porch light made me feel a little bittersweet. I didn't want the night to end just yet, even as my heart felt light from all the laughter we had shared. I pulled up to her door, feeling a mix of happiness and reluctance.

"Thanks for today, Ivy. I had an amazing time!" I said, sincerity spilling into my voice. She smiled back at me, a soft blush creeping onto her cheeks once more. She got out of the car and moved toward her house. As she waved goodbye and walked towards her door, I couldn't help but smile, knowing that this was just the start of something special between us. I watched until she disappeared inside, my heart fluttering at the thought of our next dance session.
