Chapter 19 - Chapter: The Unseen Wall

At around 5 AM, A.D. woke everyone. "We have to go," he urged, and their weary journey through the desert resumed. After a few hours, they encountered an invisible barrier. A.D. couldn't cross it.

"What happened, A.D.?" Jane asked, sensing his distress. "Something's fishy."

"I think it's a boundary we can't cross," A.D. explained. The other people tried as well, but no one could pass. The path ahead was visible, but impassable.

"Let's stop here and take some breaks, and think about it," A.D. suggested. They rested, pondering the invisible wall.

Almost three hours later, the distant roars of zombies became audible. Panic erupted as people scrambled towards the unseen boundary, only to be violently repelled. A.D. watched, helpless, as the horde closed in. Jane grabbed his hand, tears streaming down her face. A.D. knew her tears weren't for her own peaceful life, but he comforted her anyway. "Everything will be good," he promised.

The zombies reached them, and A.D. and Jane fought desperately with their axes and rods. Some people were bitten, quickly turning into the undead. Soon, only a few women and children remained, huddled behind A.D., who covered them fiercely.

Suddenly, a vehicle roared into view. Several armed figures, guns in hand, leaped out and began systematically eliminating the zombies, saving A.D. and the remaining survivors. As they were being rescued, A.D. noticed something peculiar: one of the men from the rescue group was completely unharmed by the zombies.

They were loaded into a truck. After some time, it stopped. When A.D. and the few remaining people stepped out, the group that had saved them immediately aimed their guns, pointing them directly at A.D. and the survivors.

"What are you doing?" Jane cried, turning to one of the armed men.

A.D. gripped Jane's hand. "Stop. Look around."

"What?" Jane asked, confused.

"They didn't save us," A.D. said, his voice grim. "They saved us to make us their servers." Jane looked around, her eyes widening in horror. People with guns ruled over many others, forcing them to farm, clean, and perform various personal tasks.
