I collapsed onto our bed in the guest quarters, feeling exhaustion and satisfaction in equal measure. The summit dinner had been more intense than I'd anticipated. My impromptu speech had certainly stirred the pot among the territorial Alphas, though whether that would translate into action remained to be seen.
"That went better than expected," I said, kicking off my heels and massaging my aching feet. "At least they're talking about possibilities instead of just refusing outright."
Kaelen closed our bedroom door with a soft click, his broad shoulders filling the doorframe as he leaned against it, watching me with those piercing green eyes.
"You were incredible," he said, loosening his tie. "I've never seen Alpha Azrael speechless before. That's practically a miracle in itself."
