I woke to the soft sound of whispers and opened my eyes to find Kaelen standing by the window, Rhys cradled against his bare chest. Sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting them both in a golden glow that made my breath catch.
"That's right, little one," Kaelen murmured, his voice gentler than I'd ever heard it. "Your mother is the most incredible woman in the world. The strongest, the bravest, the most beautiful..."
I smiled, watching them silently. Kaelen was tracing Rhys's tiny features with his finger, completely absorbed in their moment.
