The look on Kaelen's face made my stomach drop. I forced myself to meet his gaze, though my palms were suddenly sweaty.
"I was with Ronan," I admitted, deciding honesty was the best approach—at least partial honesty.
"I'm aware." Kaelen's voice remained dangerously calm. "What I'm curious about is why you felt the need to have a secret meeting with my brother."
I stepped farther into our quarters, closing the door behind me. "It wasn't a secret meeting."
"No?" One dark eyebrow arched skeptically. "Then why were you huddled in the most remote corner of the compound? And why did you look so guilty just now?"
Damn wolf senses. I should have known we couldn't hide completely.
"We were just talking," I said, moving toward the small kitchen area, needing something to do with my hands.
Kaelen followed, his presence filling the space. "About?"
I busied myself with filling a glass of water, mind racing. "Just... summit stuff."
"Seraphina." The warning in his voice was clear.
