Chapter 2 - The Old Lady

"Kid, just piss off." He said, walking back to the bar and chugged down his drink.

"Say failure. Where is this Frieren party heading now?" Samiryan asked the old lady.

The old lady had a hint of embarrassment hearing the words failure but quickly recovered and said, "She should be heading north as they plan on killing the demon king."

A bit of displeasure appeared in Samiryan's eyes as he heard that she wanted to kill the demon king.

"Why would she want to kill the demon king? He breeds so many new seedlings. You have no idea how boring the world was before his reign."

The old lady waved her hand and shook her head.

"Maybe for you, but us humans just wish to live in peace."

Samiryan chuckled at her words, "Ironic, the demon king thinks the same."

The old lady's eyes jumped hearing his words and opened her mouth to speak but was cut off by the boy name Cole charging at Samiryan.

"Oh~ it seems we have a dead seedling." He said, shaking his head and casually manipulated the knife on the ground and pierced the boy's neck.

Coles eyes widened as he muttered, "It's the same way Elly di-"

The boy's voice faded before he could speak clearly, and a look of malicious hatred appeared on his face before death. Sadly Samiryan cannot appreciate such a face because cannot feel malice.

"You!" The old lady said before sighing, "There have been many adventures in the Southern Lands recently due to the demon king. If you keep killing openly around here a group of adventures will come and kill you."

"Then let them." Samiryan said with a chuckle.

"You think I care? Hell, I'd enjoy it! Just like what happened to your family." He said, and walked out of the tavern, leaving the old woman alone only for her to clench the glass in her hand.

His words brought back the terrible memories in her mind that she has been trying to suppress for her entire life. The flashbacks of her parents' deaths replayed in her mind as they desperately tried to kill Samiryan 50 years ago, only to bag for her life. Those words he said to her parents haunt her to this day.

"Spare her life? Sure." Samiryan said to the young couple in front of him.

The two were drenched in their own blood. The man's left arm is almost severed from his body and could barely stand up. The young woman was in bad condition too, but she was holding a six year old child in her arms, and her eyes kept glancing back and forth between Samiryan and the girl.

"A demon who keeps his word? Impossible! Husband, I didn't think you were a coward!" The young woman screamed and sobbed as she held the child.

"It wouldn't be the first time." The young man said with a bitter smile as he coughed.

Samiryan walked up to him with a sword in his left hand and shook his head, "Your parents did the same for you 20 years ago. I agreed thinking that you'd give some joy hunting down, but you're just like the rest. Once you reach a certain age, you all just start breeding and forget your hatred, thus you stop growing stronger; I simply can't have that."

After Samiryan finished speaking, he raised his sword and slashed the mans' neck in one swift motion.

The mother of the little girl shielded her eyes and her mouth with wide open.

"N-no wonder you were so reluctant to get married…" After her words, a blade of wind chopped her head off of her shoulders, causing her body to lose its strength and reveal the little girl's eyes to the horrors around her.

Once she saw the headless corpses of her father and mother, she shrank back into her dead mothers arms, only to come out a few seconds later to see the demon who killed her parents walk away silently.

"Samiryan…!" A low grow escaped the old lady's lips, but she did not chase after him in hatred.

She knew very well what monster killed her family back then, and has been doing so for many generations. She was most likely not the only one who suffered like this. One thing she knew is that this demon loved to build strong mages to kill him, but none of them achieved his desire.

The only reason why she agreed a long time ago to help and work for him was because he just wanted a human or elf that was strong enough to fight him, and she happens to know lots of adventures.

Though he was smart enough to avoid fighting a strong elf like Seire, but she guessed it was mainly because of the fact that Seire had taken on an apprentice in the past and hoped that she could make more.

The old lady took in a deep breath and looked at the boy who died in her tavern and raised her right hand as a wand appeared.

"A spell that cleanse all that died: Alm Rheon"

After she finished speaking, a magic circle appeared around the body and evaporated while it also cleaned up the blood and added a fresh smell.

"I hope Frieren and her party can kill him." She muttered before putting her wand away and returned to her daily life.
