Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Unexpected

"A task: Complete by kissing any one among the legendary Sannin (the Three Legendary Shinobi).

Task Rewards:

1. Increase progress of any one chosen attribute by 10%.

2. Randomly obtain and master a ninjutsu."

Reading the task message that had flashed into his mind, Kagura felt both excitement and frustration.

His excitement was understandable — the damned system had finally issued an actual task.

Ever since he'd been reborn into this world, all this so-called system let him do was view his ability progress — it hadn't helped him with anything else.

Compared to those who arrived in this world already possessing something like the Nine-Tails, he was practically powerless.

Reborn into the Uchiha clan only made things worse — it brought along its own sense of danger and pressure.

But this strange new task made him feel like he might actually have a legendary 'golden finger' after all.

As for his anger, it clearly stemmed from the content of this task.

What kind of ridiculous requirement was kissing one of the Sannin?

Come on — there's only one woman among them.

Though Tsunade was still flat-chested now, Kagura knew exactly how she would turn out.

That "Giant Beauty" nickname wasn't a joke — she also had a secret jutsu to preserve her youth.

Honestly, if he had to pick a wife, this woman would've been his first choice hands down.

But everyone can chase after her — except him specifically.

If he really had to explain why, it was naturally because of his Uchiha name.

Previously, he intentionally kept distance from Tsunade and others not only because he disliked dealing with kids but mostly because of their families' relationship.

Last year, Tsunade's uncle, Tobirama Senju, was ambushed and killed on his way to Kirigakure to sign a peace treaty.

Otherwise, knowing how strict the Second Hokage was, even talking to Tsunade for a few minutes might've landed him in an Anbu interrogation by night.

While thinking about all these things, Kagura instinctively glanced toward Tsunade before him.

Noticing Kagura's odd stare, Tsunade grew suspicious and took a step back, crossing her arms over her chest and blushing slightly as she asked,

"What... What're you starin' at?!"

Realizing his impoliteness, Kagura immediately shifted his eyes.

He rubbed his forehead with his right hand and muttered, "What could I possibly see worth looking at?"

"Why're you here anyway?"

"Wanna pick another fight?"

Upon hearing Kagura's first sentence, Tsunade became furious enough for her chest to rise and fall rapidly.

But indeed, as flat as a washboard currently, Tsunade couldn't arouse anyone's interest now.

Hmm... Well, unless you count some weird white-haired guy with crimson markings under both eyes...

Taking a deep breath, Tsunade finally suppressed her anger before explaining why she'd come.

"Blockhead, tomorrow's graduation day from the academy. Figuring you probably don't have anywhere else to go, wanna join us for dinner tomorrow night to celebrate?"

Yet before she'd even finished speaking, Kagura cut in flatly,

"No thanks. Not interested."

Tsunade blinked in surprise when she heard that. She hadn't expected Kagura to turn them down so flatly.

Before she could even get angry, Jiraiya, who had been standing beside her, rushed forward first.

Since the aisle was only wide enough for one person and Tsunade was already standing in front of it,

Jiraiya leapt straight onto the table. Squatting down, he glared at Kagura and said with clear irritation,

"Hey you brat, don't just brush off someone's goodwill like that!

We invited you because we actually consider you our friend!"

Just as Kagura was about to reply, clearly exasperated, Jiraiya's face was already inches from his own.

Suddenly, an unexpected incident occurred.

At that moment, Jiraiya was crouched on the table glaring at Kagura, his backside pointed toward the next column.

Right then, a student in the next column happened to want to stand up and leave.

He murmured softly, "Excuse me."

Without waiting for Jiraiya to react, he stood up and gave Jiraiya a slight nudge.

Taken completely off guard, Jiraiya was pushed forward and fell directly toward Kagura, who had just opened his mouth to speak.

Kagura felt something block his lips. The words he was about to say were abruptly cut off.

Looking closely at those familiar red eyeliner markings now mere inches from his face, Kagura's eyes widened.

The previously noisy classroom suddenly felt like someone had pressed the pause button, everyone frozen in shock.

Tsunade, who was closest to them, went completely blank, unable to comprehend what had just happened.

The guy who caused the whole thing was the first to snap out of it.

Muttering under his breath, he said,

"Hey, it's not my fault!

I did say 'excuse me.'"

Then he practically bolted out of his seat like he was making a break for it.

Tsunade finally snapped back to reality and immediately threw a punch at Jiraiya, sending him flying several meters away.

Fuming with rage, she bellowed,

"JIRAIYA!!!

What the hell do you think you're doing!!!"

That shout broke the silence like someone had hit 'unpause,' and the entire classroom exploded into chatter.

"No way! Is Jiraiya really doing this?!"

"Guess only Jiraiya would pull something like this!

Even daring to mess with a 'monster'!

I hereby dub thee Konoha's ultimate perv!"

"JIRAIYA!!!!

How dare you kiss Lord Kagura?!

I'll fight you to the death!!!"

Still dazed from Tsunade's punch, Jiraiya was immediately swarmed and beaten by a group of girls.

Desperately stretching his hand toward Orochimaru, he shouted,

"This was an accident!

Orochimaru, save me!"

Orochimaru, who had remained calm the entire time, pretended not to see anything and casually walked back to his seat.

Meanwhile, Kagura — the story's protagonist — groaned and covered his face with both hands, squeezing his eyes shut.

Eventually, the chaos was stopped by the teacher returning to the classroom.

As for Jiraiya, barely surviving the female mob's beating, he was already bruised all over and nearly unrecognizable.

Even then, he still grumbled pathetically at Orochimaru,

"You heartless guy... didn't even try to save me."

Faced with his friend's accusation, Orochimaru kept his usual calm expression and offered no reply.

The sun slowly descended in the west, and as the school bell rang, they were finally dismissed from class.

Watching Kagura walk away without a word, Tsunade pursed her lips, as if wanting to say something.

But in the end, she seemed to think of something else. She stomped her foot angrily and turned to walk in the opposite direction.

Gritting her teeth, she shouted,

"Jiraiya!

Get over here!"

Kagura, unaware of what had just happened behind him, headed straight toward his home.

At this time, the Uchiha were still one of the most influential great clans in Konoha Village.

All members of the Uchiha clan were assigned to live in a specific area beside the village center.

After passing through Konoha's central district, Kagura arrived at the Uchiha residential quarter.

As he walked along the path, many Uchiha clan members began appearing on both sides of the street.

Some elders and children warmly greeted him, and Kagura politely nodded back to his clansmen as he passed.

"Kagura-niisan!"

Suddenly, a young boy appeared before him, sweetly calling out.

Looking at the child before him, Kagura's eyes briefly showed a trace of helplessness.

He squatted down, stared directly at the little boy, and patted his head while speaking,

"What's up?

Fugaku Uchiha?"

Yes, this three-year-old boy right here was none other than Fugaku Uchiha.

If everyone is still unclear about who he is, then there's another identity everyone would certainly find more familiar.

He was the father of Itachi and Sasuke Uchiha—the clan leader who, twenty years from now, would be the one attempting to lead the Uchiha in rebellion against the village.

Thinking of how this little fellow's own son might kill him in the future, Kagura couldn't help tightening his hand slightly as he petted the boy's hair.

Yet completely unaware of Kagura's complex thoughts, young Fugaku continued speaking with that innocent childish voice,

"Kagura-niisan, I heard you're graduating from the Ninja Academy tomorrow.

And you beat that Senju girl Tsunade, graduating first in your class, right?"

Looking into the child's bright, clear eyes, Kagura smiled slightly and gave a small nod.

Seeing Kagura's nod, a bright spark flashed through Fugaku's eyes as he happily declared,

"I knew it! Kagura-niisan is the strongest!

When I grow up, I'll be just like you—become the pride of the Uchiha clan!"

You don't need to try so hard, really!

Looking at the excited Fugaku, Kagura really wanted to persuade him like that.

After giving a few half-hearted replies, Kagura finally managed to send the overly enthusiastic kid back home.

By the way, wasn't Fugaku and Mikoto's marriage not even going to happen for another two years? If their marriage were disrupted now, wouldn't Itachi Uchiha ever be born?

Then wouldn't I avoid being killed?

No, even so, he might still choose the path of rebellion against Konoha.

So even without Itachi, the Uchiha would likely still face destruction.

Most importantly, if things changed like this, then Sasuke Uchiha—the hotheaded idiot—would never be born either.

Then, when Kaguya Otsutsuki appears later, who will partner with Naruto to fight the ultimate enemy?

With these random thoughts swirling in his mind, Kagura had already reached his home.

He opened the door, and inside was completely empty.

It's not that all transmigrators must have the setting of being orphaned.

The reality is that the current Konoha had just gone through the "Warring States" era and the First Great Ninja War. Examples of children like him, whose parents were both ninja and died on the battlefield, were countless.

Therefore, since his transmigration, Kagura had never seen his parents. Even if he had, he wouldn't feel much attachment toward them anyway.

Closing the door, finally feeling a bit relaxed in solitude, Kagura rushed to check his system.

Although it wasn't exactly as he imagined, he had indeed completed the mission of kissing one of the Sannin.

Looking at the mission completion notification inside the system, he let out a slight sigh of relief.

Staring at those two rewards, he applied the first reward—which increased a certain attribute by 10%—to Dojutsu without hesitation.

In fact, during these years of cultivation, he'd discovered an undeniable truth.

That was: the higher the level, the slower the results from training became.

Take Dojutsu as an example; back then, he awakened it within only two years.

But now, even after three full years since his awakening, he was still stuck at the Single Tomoe Sharingan stage.

Moreover, compared with the other two attributes, adding another 10% to Dojutsu would allow him to breakthrough to the next level.

So obviously, he knew where to apply this boost without needing extra thought.

As he confirmed the choice, a sharp pain spread from his eyes.

If he looked into a mirror at this moment, he would see that his eyes had automatically transformed into the Single Tomoe Sharingan state.

As the pain intensified, the tomoe within his eyes began to spin.

Fortunately, this discomfort lasted only five minutes before vanishing entirely, along with the rotation of his Sharingan.

On closer look, Kagura's Sharingan had already evolved from Single Tomoe to Double Tomoe.

Feeling the change within his body, Kagura quickly turned his attention back to the system. As he saw the displayed information:

Dojutsu: [Double Tomoe Sharingan], Progress: 6.5%.

Only then did he finally relax.

Without immediately trying to sense the new changes brought by the evolved Sharingan, he directly claimed his next reward—randomly select a ninjutsu and learn it.

A roulette wheel appeared in his mind, spinning rapidly while faintly displaying names such as "Water Dragon Bullet," "Lightning Cutter," "Impure World Reincarnation," and others.

Under Kagura's expectant gaze, the wheel began to slow down.

When the final technique came up, Kagura couldn't help but blurt out in surprise:

"It's actually this one!"
