"It's useless!" Magellan shouted, controlling the remaining arm of the poisonous giant soldier, and punched Ace again.
"Explosive Flame Sword of Fire!" Ace swung his sword, releasing purple flames along its blade. After blocking the fist of the giant poison soldier, Ace's arm shook, and the blade emitted purple flames a second time. The flames instantly evaporated the poisonous giant soldier's entire body.

"Impossible!" Magellan exclaimed, shocked. The poison soldier had been wrapped in Haki—how could it disappear so silently?
"Have you not figured it out yet?" Ace asked calmly. "Try again if you want to see clearly."
Magellan's face darkened but he still sent the remaining half of the poison soldier forward.
Ace swung again. The remaining half of the giant poison soldier disappeared instantly.
"I see… it's a highly compressed flame released in an instant," Magellan muttered, understanding the technique.
"That's right," Ace said, holding his sword. "I concentrate one hundred thousand degrees of purple flame on the blade, releasing it in the instant of the swing. The flame is invisible, but it burns everything in its path like the rising sun."
"This is the second stage of the Fire Sword—Rising Sun Blade!" Ace declared, pointing the sword at Magellan.
"Rising Sun Blade… a blade like the sun?" Magellan muttered, envisioning the devastation if Ace swung at him.
At that moment, near the entrance of Level One in Impel Down, a heavily made-up face suddenly appeared. "Ace! The gate to Level One has opened! Escape quickly!"
"Oh, here we go!" Ace smiled slightly, flying toward the entrance.
He didn't avoid Magellan, passing directly by him. Surprisingly, Magellan didn't act—still captivated by the power of the Rising Sun Blade.
"Director! Director!" Saludes arrived with a team of guards, calling to Magellan.
Finally regaining himself, Magellan turned toward them, face full of shame and anger.
"It's disgraceful… as warden of Impel Down, to be intimidated by a criminal like this!" he muttered. "Don't follow him. Leave this to me."
"Portgas D. Ace, even if you're buried here, I will keep you in Impel Down!" Magellan vowed, eyes burning with resolve.
