Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 12

Evelyn POV

We kept on walking, their words echoing in my head but then I noticed someone suddenly changing to their wolf form and I will admit, it startled me.

"Where are we, what just happened?" I questioned in shock. It was the first time I've ever seen someone transform before.

"We're in the training grounds, my Lady. Transformation is part of the soldier's training routine to ensure they stay in shape both in human and wolf form." Lucy answered.

That's right, I'm the only one who doesn't have a wolf so I can't transform or communicate with her. I wonder if I'll be able to someday be like everyone else.

"Can you transform like that, Lucy?" I asked.

"Of course, my Lady." She responded immediately and I chuckled.

"That must be nice because I can't, I wonder how it'll feel like. Is it painful?"

"No my lady, only the first time." Suddenly Lucy's brow furrowed, "My lady, forgive me for being impolite but why are you asking me this? Don't you have your wolf?"

I opened my mouth to reply but stopped when I suddenly heard my name.

"Evelyn."

It was Damien who called out to me and he came closer when we turned. Lucy bowed and greeted him.

He nodded in acceptance then waved her away from coming even closer to me.

"How's your day going, my Luna?" He said very close to me, his face inches away from mine.

"It's okay, lot's of things happened." I replied then told him about the stolen heirloom incident and asked for him to ensure it's properly investigated but left the part of the maids talking bad about me, nothing good will come from that. I need to earn their loyalty the right way, not by force.

They need to know they can depend on me.

"See, I told you to trust in yourself! You're very smart, kind and wise. You'll be a great Luna." He said cheerfully then pulled in for a hug before placing a kiss on my forehead.

"Actually I wanted to tell you something." He pulled away a bit but still wrapped his arms around my waist. "I'm thinking of holding a mating ceremony for us!"

"It'll happen in a few nights from now, I'll hire the best event planner from our pack and have her consult you on your references. It'll be spectacular, a very she wolf's dream." He continued going on about the ceremony but I was no longer listening.

I was very shocked by his suggestion, I won't say I didn't expect this because it's normal but I didn't think he'll plan for this so soon. Everything is still so sudden for me and I'm still contemplating on whether I want to be the pack's Luna or not.

"What's wrong?" Damien suddenly asked. He must have noticed my displeasure, I can't say I hid it. This is something I should be happy about but instead I'm unsure, I keep wavering and still indecisive.

"It's nothing, Damien." I answered absentmindedly.

"Come on, I can tell there's something. Share your thoughts with me. Did anyone say anything to you again?"

"No, no. It's not that." I took a deep breath then exhaled. "Actually I was thinking that I might actually be wolfless."

"What?"

"I haven't been able to transform yet. I haven't met my wolf all my life. I'm not like everyone else. I don't think I should be your mate or Luna while being wolfless. Is the ceremony even going to work without my wolf?" I finally aired out my frustrations.

Damien stared at me for a while before giving me a smile, his blue eyes sparkled before leaning closer and cupped my face, "Now I understand your worries." He chuckled, his blue eyes twinkling as he stared down at me, "I don't think you have no wolf, Evelyn. I know she's right there with you, she's just quiet for now but you'll meet her soon."

"You don't have to worry about things like this, just tell me how you feel or any problems you have and I'll ensure it's taken care of."

"You really think I can one day transform?" I asked, a little hesitantly.

"I'm sure of it." He placed a soft kiss on my lips, "Now that that's been resolved, I'll start preparing for our mating ceremony."

I chuckled, "Okay fine."

*****

After that day, our mating ceremony was announced and it became what everyone was talking about but… not in a good way.

Everytime I walked around the pack house, all the maids kept giving me dirty looks when they thought I couldn't see them, and gossiped about how incapable I was when they thought I wasn't listening. I believe some did it on purpose and wanted me to hear what they have to say about me.

Nowadays leaving my room has become dreadful and so I spend most of my time there.

Damien also visits almost every day to inform about the planning. I also heard from him that the council members are strongly against the ceremony and asked him to reconsider his decision.

They have been giving him such a headache lately because of it.

"But don't worry, my Luna. No matter how many times they ask, I'll keep on refusing. We're going to have our ceremony no matter what." Damien said whilst I kept running my hands through his hair as he spoke. He was laying comfortably on my thighs, ranting on and on about the were council members.

He kept on ranting while I listened but suddenly we heard a commotion outside. He stood up abruptly and I followed suit.

Lucy tailed behind us as we went to check out what the commotion is all about.

There were about a hundred or more werewolves standing around my quarters chanting "She's not our Luna!"

My heart sank seeing all these werewolves so opposed to me being their Luna. The worst that I feared has actually come to pass, what do I do now?

Suddenly I felt something rush at me, it was a stone and it was aimed directly at me, I braced myself for the impact but nothing happened. I looked back to see what's going on and found Damien in front of me.
