Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Invisible Girl Day

"It's not that they don't see me… it's just that they don't really look."

Dear Diary,

You ever walk into a room and feel like a puff of air?

Not a breeze. Not a gust.

Just… air. There, but not noticed.

That was me today.

I got to school, said "hi" to three different people.

Guess how many replied?

Zero.

My deskmate didn't even look up when I dropped my book.

Lunch? I sat near the edge of the table like a last-minute guest. Everyone talked over me. Not to me.

So I stopped trying.

And something strange happened.

The world dimmed — like someone turned the brightness down on reality. My body felt lighter. Lighter. Until… poof. I disappeared.

I wasn't scared. I was curious.

I walked down the hallway, completely unseen. Not even the noisy juniors bumped into me. It was like I was made of smoke.

I snuck into the staff room.

Mr. Owusu was eating puff-puff from a Ziploc bag like it was a secret mission.

Then I peeked into the principal's office.

She was humming to herself while writing something in a flowery pink notebook. (Principal writing in a pink diary? The drama.)

But then I saw my class from the outside.

And that's when I noticed something weird.

My seat was empty, sure.

But my best friend, Jia, kept glancing toward it like she was waiting for me.

Mrs. Oche mentioned, "Has anyone seen Wunor?"

Even my annoying seatmate looked around once, puzzled.

They didn't ignore me.

They just didn't realize I'd faded.

Maybe people don't always see you the way you want…

But it doesn't mean you're invisible.

So I whispered to myself,

"I'm here."

And boom — color rushed back. My hands were solid. The bell rang. Life resumed.

And guess what?

Jia walked up to me and said, "You were quiet today. You okay?"

I smiled.

"Yes. I just needed to disappear… to remember that I matter."

Till tomorrow,

Wunor 🌫️✨
