The past few weeks had been a blur of survival and struggle. Days of fleeing and fighting had finally given way to refuge in the Capitol building. Life here was fragile, but it was a start. Then, a desperate radio transmission from Lake George changed everything. A faint voice called for help. Rescue seemed like the only option.
