Chapter 9 - Growth Noel Awakens

coming back to the fortress, it was already early in the morning. And then I saw her.

She was curled up in a ball by the campfire, seemingly on the verge of tears. I felt really guilty. Things had turned out unexpectedly—I should have told her that I'd be back by the next morning.

Shaking my head, I stepped forward. When she saw me, she suddenly pounced at me—and to my surprise, she was floating as she rushed toward me.

Eh?

She hugged me tightly, about to break down in tears.

"Stupid... I thought that you died... Stupid, stupid!" Her voice was muffled as she pressed herself against me.

I was stunned, but I gently patted her head to reassure her. Did she awaken her powers due to an emotional outburst?

I looked at her with mixed emotions and asked, "Did you just... fly?"

She tilted her head innocently, as if she hadn't noticed.

Sighing, I opened the system and started upgrading things first.

I upgraded the technology twice, costing me 500 points. Immediately, the floor turned into polished tiles and everything became smoother and more organized.

The entrance looked more luxurious now and had a laser security system. There was a button that could turn it on or off—but only someone from inside the fortress could control it, or I could command it directly. Two automatic turrets were now installed.

I smiled, satisfied.

Meanwhile, Noel just sighed. She didn't seem to care about the upgrades. She was still worried—clearly shaken and still afraid something bad had happened.

She finally pulled away from me.

She felt something strange inside her. Sniffling and trying not to cry again, she turned to the side as if to test something. Then, suddenly, she pointed at one of the robots. Her eyes lit up—she didn't understand what was happening, but she could feel a strange energy inside her.

And then, incredibly, the robot began to lift off the ground slightly.

I looked at her and smiled, gently tapping her forehead.

I gave her the Better Stamina and Better Speed Transferring it through the system. Immediately, she felt the change—she could now easily lift the robot, and she felt lighter than before. If she had tried to fly again, it would probably be even faster this time.

"You have a superpower Telekinesis."

Her eyes lit up at my words. She didn't know what to say, but then asked curiously, "You did something, didn't you?"

I smiled gently. "Yes. A reward—and compensation for making you worry."

She sighed, then muttered, "Well, I guess it's fine."

She yawned, clearly hungry. She hadn't eaten anything since the Day 1 meal I had given her.

I smiled again and decided to do something first. I expanded the territory, making it at least 50 meters now—much more spacious.

After that, I commanded the other four robots to start building a simple two-floor house with a kitchen. I began placing appliances and preparing wood for construction.

Then, I turned to her and said, "Wait for a bit."

She immediately nodded happily.

"Why not try practicing your superpower?" I suggested.

She nodded again. I dropped a sword onto the ground. "Try manipulating this," I said, my voice filled with anticipation.

Obediently, she focused—and slowly but surely, she began manipulating the sword. As expected of a prodigy, she immediately got the hang of it. I added more objects for her to train with, and she continued practicing diligently.

I had 555 points left. I pondered for a moment, then decided to use the Ability Lottery.

I received Faster Mind, and most of the other rewards were body enhancements. One of them made it so I no longer needed to eat every day—basically, an enhanced version of the one I gave to Noel, except I got it through a Silver Ticket.

Thanks to the upgrades, the robots were now much more efficient. After just six hours, the house was already complete.

It was just enough for the two of us, with a bed and a proper kitchen. The second floor was designated for training.

We ate our first meal inside. The house was spacious—about 30 meters total—but it already felt a bit cramped once the bathroom was added.

I upgraded the fortress again.

Immediately, looking outside, the territory was now 100 meters. The floor was tiled, and the walls stood 50 meters high. The wall was also 3 meters thick.

Everything looked great. But with a bigger space came greater need for surveillance, so I needed more robots to monitor the area.

Currently, the territory had four sides, each 25 meters long. The left and right sides had at least one turret and one robot patrolling. The front and back had two robots patrolling each.
