Chapter 10 - Ashes in the Wind

Location: Pallet Town – Two Days After the Attack

The rain fell softly.

Pallet Town didn't often see rain in summer, but that day… the skies understood.

Aiden stood beneath the canopy set up beside the graves, unmoving. His clothes were clean. His face wasn't.

Two plain wooden coffins lay before him — one shorter, one longer. Covered in simple cloth. No emblems. No flowers.

Just loss.

Delia stood beside her sons, Ash clutching her hand with red eyes. Red stood silent, jaw tight. Daisy held Blue and Gary, both of whom had gone quiet since they'd arrived.

Even the Pokémon in the trees were silent.

Professor Oak had spoken to the small gathering, a soft, trembling eulogy.

But Aiden hadn't heard any of it.

His eyes never left the coffins.

[Later – Inside Oak's Lab]

Oak had taken him in, at least for now.

Aiden sat on a cot in a small spare room at the back of the lab. He hadn't spoken since that day. Not a word.

He didn't cry. He didn't scream. But every now and then, his hand would twitch — and objects nearby would shake.

Oak had brought in a Kadabra, just in case.

Not to protect Aiden from the world.

To protect the world from him.

[That Night – Alone in the Room]

The lab was quiet.

Oak had gone to sleep. The kids had returned home with their parents. Everyone thought the boy would eventually break — with grief, with rage, or with madness.

But Aiden didn't break.

He stared at the small family photo he had found in the ruins. A little burned. Cracked glass.

But his parents were smiling in it.

He looked at it like it was a ghost.

"This isn't just grief," he thought.

"This is the beginning."

He could feel something growing inside him. Not hate — not yet.

But will.

Resolve.

[Outside – A Whisper Among the Trees]

A single figure watched from deep in the trees beyond the edge of Pallet.

Eyes glowing faintly.

It had followed the scent of battle… but found only silence now.

The Scyther stood still.

It had not attacked by malice. It had attacked because its instincts were twisted by a Talent it barely understood. Some dungeons corrupted even their lesser inhabitants.

And now it had left behind something far more dangerous than death.

A human child with power.

And purpose.

[Back Inside – Aiden Stands Up]

The storm outside rumbled gently.

He stood in the dark room, photo still in hand, and whispered the first words he'd spoken in two days:

"…I'm not going to forget."

His aura pulsed faintly, flickering like a candle.

"…And I'm not going to forgive."

——

If your wondering why Oak said sorry last ch to Aiden it is because Oak in not only a professor or a researcher he is not only that but also a protector of that town.

Yeah Pokémon are smart in this World and you know how blue talents are rare after the main characters are 15 not so much 😭🗿🗿🗿
