Chapter 53 - 84

Chapter 84: Katty IV

"If that's all you have, then I'm disappointed. You are a spatial user, right?" Rinex said.

Lito was too shocked to reply; she was staring at the body. The body she had invested so much in. She turned to Rinex, and her eyes flashed with anger.

For the first time since she got to the place, she was angry.

Her hand reached into empty space and seemed to hook on something that couldn't be seen by others. Purple light poured down from the empty space like a fountain and then solidified into her hand as a sword.

It wasn't actually a sword.

It was as if strands of light were brought together and shoved to hold against each other.

She was holding spatial.

"Lito... this technique... it's dangerous," the man said.

But she merely shook her head, a trail of blood running down her nose. "You know, everything I have always got destroyed by Etherion users. I hate this cursed power, but I thought I could use it to help others. Ordinary human."

She took a step forward, shakily, as if she was holding a great strain with her shoulder.

Rinex watched her with curiosity. "Wow. That's a powerful thing you're holding there, far stronger than you should be playing with. It could kill you."

Lito gritted her teeth, not saying anything. All her energy seemed to be put into holding the sword in her hand together. But even then, she forced some words out. "I will make a chance for you two, so run as fast as you can!"

Then she raised her sword, purple light flaring, and then she brought it down.

Woosh! Crack!

The ice on the ground surrounding her broke away, and a great wind followed the descent of the spatial sword.

The sword lengthened, and even though Lito didn't take a single step, it was as if she was directly in front of Rinex.

Bam!

The sword slammed into Rinex with a loud snapping crack.

A straight line from Lito to her appeared on the ground, where it was split open.

And the place where Rinex had been standing formed into a large crater, the stones around it all cracked and twisted with countless slashing marks as if hundreds of swords were used.

The air seemed to be warm around them, as if the rule of the ice was finally over.

A lie.

An illusion.

In the middle of the crater, Rinex was still standing there, her hand raised from where the attack had hit her. Where she attempted to block.

As she had done for countless attacks.

But this time, her fingers were twisted.

She didn't seem angry though; she was smiling, and her eyes shone as she watched her blood fall. She laughed, the cold in her eyes disappearing. "Ah! I thought I would have to wait for my little brother, Talon Kareth, to finish the Academy so that I can start having good fights again!"

Due to her rank, it's not easy for her to see who to spar with, and other people her rank are best avoided since it might start conflicts between two families.

"I should take you with me. I'll mold you into my training dummy... huh?"

Lito had collapsed on her knees, her hand covering her mouth as if she could hold back the blood pouring out.

But Rinex wasn't looking at her; she was frowning at the spot where the man with the vines for hands was. "He escaped? I need to kill him though."

Unhurried, she reached out her hand, and the heavy black fog around her came closer, curling around her fingers. "He's not gone that far."

Just using the fog that carried the element of ice, she could feel her surroundings and everything in the fog. She concentrated, and a wave of power that made the air around her turn static flowed from her.

Deep in the fog, the man was running for his life. He felt a pang that he had left his leader behind, but he was still glad to be able to escape with his life. His only problem was to find a way to get out of the place entirely.

He leaped forward, his feet barely touching the ice-covered ground before he was already leaping again, covering distance at blurring speed.

But as his feet touched the ground again, just a bit of contact, the ground erupted. Jagged ice surged from the ground and clamped around his middle like the maw of a monster. freewebnσvel.cѳm

"Waaa...!"

Half of his body was in the ice maw, while the rest of his body fell to the ground, fresh blood spilling on the ground. He gritted bloodstained teeth. "Thaaaa bitch..."

From her place, Rinex shook her head. "I heard that. I've killed all of your subordinates, so now you have no regrets. I will take you and turn you into my training dummy. Your spatial powers will be useful."

Lito laughed, a broken sound. "Yes. I've heard that all my life. How special and useful my spatial powers are. My family was killed for it...!"

Rinex yawned. "Boring. We all have our own sad stories. Didn't I just tell you mine? If you want to change anything, then you must have the power to decide for yourself. But as for now, you will do as I comm...!!"

A stream of ten dark lights that resembled claws came down on Rinex. The rest of her clothes, which were nothing more than rags, were torn away and still, nothing touched her skin.

She turned and raised her brows. "Didn't I kill you?"

Katty was on her hands and knees, her eyes glowing an intense yellow, the same color that covered her as she projected her Etherion around herself.

She hissed. "I'm a cat."

And then she leaped.

Not at Rinex, but far above her to Lito's side.

She held her leader by the shoulder. "Let's go. I will buy you time. You can go before me."

Lito shook her head and smiled sadly. "You're a cat, Katty. You don't like the cold, right? You should have run when I told you to."

Rinex blinked. "Cat? You turned into a human? Something like that can happen?"
