Chapter 248 Arrival of the Top Saleswoman

"Is your nose really that sharp?" Su Yuanshan chuckled helplessly, grabbing his phone. As he stood, he said to Zhou Xiaohui, "Next time we go to my place, remind me to snag some from my dad."

Zhou Xiaohui nodded, taking mental note. Seeing him pick up his laptop at the same time, she asked,

"Heading to see President Chen?"

"Yeah. She's had a lot on her plate this month—I want to see if I can help a bit."

Su Yuanshan opened the door and took a few steps into Chen Jing's office. Her layout was the same as his, except hers had no partition. An Siying shared the space and worked alongside her.

This arrangement was intentional—Chen Jing's work leaned more administrative and managerial, so she needed her assistant within reach to relay instructions efficiently. Su Yuanshan, meanwhile, focused on technical work and required quiet to think, hence the private office.

Inside, Chen Jing was seated on the guest sofa, earphones in, tapping the coffee table with her fingers while her eyes scanned a document. A slight frown suggested she was deep in thought.

"President Shan," An Siying greeted as soon as he stepped in. "Would you like some coffee?"

"No, thanks."

Su Yuanshan caught Chen Jing's glance, pulled up a chair beside the coffee table, and sat down. Chen Jing shifted inward on the sofa, motioning for him to sit there instead.

"Here," she said, sliding a document his way.

"This is the marketing strategy for the second half of the year—includes brand promotion and market expansion. You're full of ideas—see if anything's missing."

Su Yuanshan moved over and began reviewing the file.

The sofa was large enough for three, so with just the two of them, there was plenty of space. Chen Jing removed her earbuds. She was wearing long black stockings, one leg crossed over the other, with her chin resting in her hand as she, too, looked over the file—occasionally glancing at Su Yuanshan's profile.

He read through it quickly. From the thoroughness and structure, it was clear that a large portion of this mobile-centric marketing strategy had come from Duan Yongping.

"Nothing to add.

Honestly, I only have consumer experience—not operational.

Don't think I'm omnipotent," Su Yuanshan smiled.

"Oh? You have consumer experience?" Chen Jing leaned back, smiling slyly.

"Didn't Auntie Sun buy all your clothes?"

"Ahem… well, observation counts too, right?" Su Yuanshan cleared his throat, scrambling for an excuse.

"I still think this is a solid strategy—might even be a great template for consumer electronics overall. I recommend VCD adopt it too."

"I was thinking the same. I'll have Lao Duan coordinate with the VCD team in tomorrow's meeting."

She paused.

"Speaking of VCDs—since early this year, foreign gray-market imports have been popping up, and several new domestic brands have launched too…

They haven't impacted us yet, but in the long term, it's not sustainable. Even ants can bite an elephant to death."

At the mention of VCDs, Su Yuanshan sighed softly.

Yuanxin had monopolized the VCD market for two full years. Both the concept and public acceptance had matured.

Tech and patent advantages allowed Yuanxin to earn easy money for two years—but now, the vultures were circling.

Due to Yuanxin's dominant high-end market position, newcomers like Aido VCD and Tiantian VCD could only compete in price—targeting underserved rural areas.

And because they couldn't bypass Yuanxin's patents, their designs were clunky—ugly, boxy, resembling old-school VCRs.

Compared to Yuanxin's sleek VCDs, the difference in quality was obvious.

"So what? Within two months, Huada International will launch decoder chips—via TI—that have some features disabled, specifically to let local manufacturers use our chips."

Huada International was the rebranded version of Xinghai HK, managed by Sun Xihui.

Though the holding company registered in the Cayman Islands still owned it on paper, it now appeared fully independent from Yuanxin.

Under its new name, Huada was rapidly expanding, building a powerful network of foreign trade agencies across China's port cities, and reaching into the US, Japan, and Europe.

Though Huada handled all kinds of profitable products, its specialty remained electronics and semiconductor imports/exports.

Three months ago, Su Yuanshan had already learned that several Chinese companies were planning to leverage the upcoming decoder chip revisions to sidestep Yuanxin's patents and enter the VCD market.

But VCDs were still Yuanxin's cash cow—and specifically, its decoder chips were a choke point. Anyone wanting in had to go through Su Yuanshan.

Chen Jing nodded, fully aware of Su Yuanshan's strategy.

She smiled.

"Time to let Sister Sun bread them up first."

"Pfft… Nice metaphor."

Sun Xihui had fully absorbed Su Yuanshan's "strip them clean" mindset. If something passed through her hands, she'd fleece it—even if it was Yuanxin itself.

As they laughed, someone knocked on the door. Moments later, Wan Yongliang stepped in.

Seeing Su Yuanshan there didn't surprise him. He blinked, then motioned behind him—introducing He Wei.

"President Shan, President Chen, allow me to introduce He Wei."

Wan, an old subordinate of Chen Jing's, was at ease in her office.

He stepped inside, motioning for the nervous He Wei to follow.

"Uh… President Shan, President Chen," He Wei said, biting her lip as she tried to mask her nerves.

"My name is He Wei."

"Heh, I thought you'd show up sooner," Su Yuanshan said, shifting toward her.

"No need to be shy—show us the confidence you had when selling phones."

Chen Jing blinked, then nudged Su Yuanshan's arm.

"You two know each other?"

"Yeah," he nodded.

"She was a sales rep at our legacy store in Jiangdu Tower."

"Top sales rep," Wan added with a grin.

Su Yuanshan blinked.

He knew about the "Gold Sales Rep" system at his uncle's mall: monthly awards based on sales volume, conversion rate, and customer feedback.

Only three winners per month.

"You're a top rep?

Respect.

Didn't realize I was talking to royalty."
