Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2:The Doctor and the Fall

After an hour, I woke up — it felt like morning all over again.

I sat up in bed and let out a big yawn. Just then, a nurse walked into my ward. She saw me yawning and chuckled softly. Handing me the medical reports and prescription, she said, "You're all good now. Please settle the bill at the counter."

I called out to her as she was about to leave. "Excuse me… who brought me here?"

She turned and smiled. "A little girl's mother admitted you. She stayed until everything was arranged."

I blinked. "Where is she now?"

"I think they've already left," she replied casually.

My mind went blank for a second, probably still processing everything. The nurse tapped my shoulder and asked, "Do you feel dizzy?"

I shook my head. "No, I'm fine."

She nodded and reminded me again to pay the bill, then left.

I got out of bed slowly and walked toward the door. Just as I reached it, someone entered — a doctor. I bumped into him by accident. Still half-asleep, I looked up. He was wearing a mask, so I couldn't see his face properly.

I stepped back immediately. "Ah, I'm so sorry!"

He just nodded silently, walked over to his chair, and asked, "How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine, doctor," I replied politely. "And you…?"

He removed his mask, looked at me, and said, "I'm your attending doctor."

I blinked and stepped a little closer, trying to get a better look. He was doing something with his reports when he suddenly looked up and asked, "What? Do you want to ask something?"

I smiled. "Yes… may I know your name, doctor?"

He looked at me for a moment and said, "Zheng Lu."

I nodded quietly, waiting to see if he'd say anything else. But after five seconds of silence, I turned around to leave.

Just then, Dr. Lu called out, "You should come for a checkup this Saturday."

I turned back, confused. "But I'm fine… why do I need a checkup, doctor?"

He tilted his head and said seriously, "Do you think you're alright? Don't you have hemophobia?"

I blinked in surprise. "Yes…"

"Then you should treat it," he said calmly. "You fainted because of it, right?"

"Y-yes," I answered, a little shocked. How does he know everything? Then again… he's a doctor, of course he knows.

I gave him a small smile. "Thank you, Dr. Lu." I gently closed the door behind me and walked to the billing counter, paid the bill, and picked up my medicine.

Then I headed straight to school.

As I reached the classroom door, I saw my friend Ling teaching my class. The moment the class ended, I stepped inside — and the little cuties ran up to me and hugged my legs. They were so tiny, it melted my heart.

I squatted down and hugged them back.

One of the kids asked, "Ma'am~~ where did you go? Why didn't you teach me?"

Another pointed to my bandaged hand and shouted, "What happened to your hand~~??"

I laughed softly. "Cuties, Superman gave me a mission. I went to finish it!"

Their eyes widened with wonder. "Wahhh~~!"

I patted their tiny heads and told them to go play. "Yes, ma'am!" they yelled, running off like little superheroes themselves.

I stood up and smiled — then turned to Ling, who looked at me with concern.

"What happened to your hand? Is it painful?" she asked gently.

"It's nothing. Just a small accident, don't worry," I replied.

"What did the doctor say?" she pressed.

"He gave me an injection and told me to come for a checkup this Saturday," I said casually.

Ling crossed her arms. "Then I'll come with you."

I shook my head quickly. "It's just a trivial matter. You finally got a weekend off — you should rest at home and enjoy it."

She pouted. "Still, I'm coming."

I looked at her dramatically and said, "Okay~~ okay, you can come with me. Now are you happy?" I did a little agyeo to cheer her up, but accidentally moved my hand — it stung.

"Ouch~~!"

Ling finally smiled, and I couldn't help but laugh with her.
