Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 Family and Village

"Alright! Stop!" The stones at Uchiha Yuan's feet had all been thrown.

Shisui sat down directly on the ground, gasping heavily.

"Shisui, you're very good. Honestly, your reaction speed is faster than mine. The Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique) should suit you very well," Uchiha Yuan walked over and said.

"Y-Yuan senpai, r-really? Am I very talented?" Shisui asked while still catching his breath.

"Of course it's true. Rest for a while and recover your chakra, I'll teach you Shunshin no Jutsu soon."

Shisui nodded excitedly.

While Shisui was recovering, Uchiha Yuan ran ten laps around the training ground to warm up.

Then he started training as usual; today he hadn't trained for three full hours yet!

A week ago, Uchiha Yuan's left eye evolved into the two-tomoe Sharingan, and his level rose from 10 (15/20) to 12 (5/20), gaining two levels.

After these two level-ups, the white gift box he received contained 20 shuriken and 10 smoke bombs—better than nothing.

As for the mini-games played over the past seven days, perhaps his earlier runs with the 'Insight' game were just too lucky, because for five consecutive days Uchiha Yuan died shortly after starting the game.

The most outrageous was the fifth day, when he arrived in a western fantasy world and registered as a mercenary.

The next day, while on a mission to hunt goblins with a squad, a giant dragon flew overhead and spit out a glob of fire-wrapped thick spit, wiping out the entire squad.

Fortunately, after this, Uchiha Yuan's luck improved somewhat.

Probably because he had repaid his debts, the last two days of word games lasted longer, and he at least earned two attribute points as rewards.

In seven days, Uchiha Yuan gained a total of nine attribute points, all of which he added to chakra.

His visual power rose to 70, and chakra reserves had to keep up; otherwise, the Sharingan couldn't exert its original strength and might even become a burden.

After training about an hour, Shisui approached him.

"Senpai, I've recovered."

Uchiha Yuan handed Shisui the Shunshin no Jutsu scroll left by his parents.

Uchiha Yuan's Shunshin no Jutsu was taught to him by Hyuga Asana, whose version was learned from Orochimaru. Teaching it to others might affect Hyuga Asana.

So from the start, Uchiha Yuan planned to give Shisui the scroll left by his parents, along with some of his own cultivation experience and methods for Shunshin no Jutsu.

This way, Shisui would learn the Shunshin no Jutsu left by Yuan's parents, not the one taught by Hyuga Asana.

Then Uchiha Yuan explained his understanding of Shunshin no Jutsu to Shisui twice in detail and demonstrated it several times.

Shisui listened attentively and occasionally took out a notebook to record things.

Nearby, Obito also perked up his ears and secretly tried to learn.

"Alright, that's my understanding of Shunshin no Jutsu. Shisui, from now on, it depends on you to study hard."

"Thank you for your guidance, Yuan senpai!" Shisui bowed deeply at a 90° angle.

"No need for thanks. As I said before, we are all one family. We should help each other. The Uchiha clan is a whole; only by supporting each other can the family flourish."

After hearing Uchiha Yuan's words, Shisui hesitated and asked, "Yuan senpai, which do you think is more important, the village or the family?"

"Why do you suddenly ask this?"

"Because recently I found that members of our Uchiha clan aren't very welcome in the village, especially members of the police force. Many villagers dislike them very much, so…"

"So you worry that we might have conflicts with the village?"

Shisui nodded.

"Your worry isn't unfounded. To be honest, Shisui, the current situation of our clan in the village isn't good. What you see is real.

But it's not that bad yet, and not to the point where we have to choose between the family and the village.

If I had to say, the village itself is a collection of families. Families exist to protect their members; the village exists to protect everyone in the village.

The First Hokage, Lord Senju Hashirama, established Konoha with the hope to protect every child, so they wouldn't have to go to war or die early because of it.

I agree with his philosophy. So to me, the Konoha founded by the First Hokage is worth protecting with our lives. With this village, our family will also continue better."

After hearing Uchiha Yuan's words, Shisui fell silent. Though young, he understood the meaning behind Yuan's words.

Uchiha Yuan acknowledged and admired the Konoha created by the First Hokage but was less satisfied with the current Konoha.

Is it because the current Konoha sending children to war goes against the founding intention? Or some other reason?

Uchiha Shisui didn't continue asking. He knew some questions shouldn't be answered by asking others but should be sought out oneself.

Uchiha Yuan also didn't say more; some things are better left implied because finding answers yourself is easier than having them handed over.

Then, Uchiha Shisui silently turned and went to the other side of the training ground to practice Shunshin no Jutsu.

Uchiha Yuan continued training at the ground until he earned a chance to spin the roulette, then left the training ground.

Obito hesitated but followed.

"Why are you following me?"

"I secretly learned your Shunshin no Jutsu just now. I want to say thank you."

"No need. Not stopping you from teaching Shisui was my way of acknowledging you can learn too.

I already told Shisui that we are all Uchiha, and we should help each other. You can go back and ask Shisui to copy the Shunshin no Jutsu from the ninja scroll. The rest is up to you to practice!" After saying this, Uchiha Yuan turned and left.

After hearing this, Obito clenched his fist and shouted, "I owe you one this time, and I'll pay you back!"

Uchiha Yuan smiled slightly but didn't respond.

He really disliked Obito and didn't want much contact.

Not stopping him from learning was also to better "brainwash" Shisui—to make sure Shisui knew that when Yuan said the Uchiha are one family who help each other, he meant it seriously, not just empty words.

Having Obito go back and copy the Shunshin no Jutsu scroll served the same purpose.
