Chapter 24 - Ep. 7 — Interrogation, I

If she is alive, then where is she now?? Is she in the same void I was when she took over?

I feel so bad!

"Is everything alright?" The lab guy asked worryingly.

"HOW WOULD EVERYTHING BE ALRIGHT!!" I screamed at him without thinking, but to be fair, it was a stupid question.

He flinched, "I see… sorry." He dropped his head.

The door beside him started opening, lifting above the ground as an automated door. In walked a man with a suit that bore a striking resemblance to mine, but had a blue technology hue instead of purple.

He ducked under the door before It fully opened and immediately said in a very serious tone, "Get out."

The lab guy, I don't know his name… quickly rushed out as the door started closing again.

"I really hate to do this to you Lydia, but you know you leave me with no choice." He said as he pulled out a device out of his pocket.

"Do what?"

He glanced at me, then opened the device he was holding. He walked up and placed two things against my eyes.

"Ouch!" I exclaimed as he poked my eyes.

"Sorry, it will be quick."

"What will-" Before I could finish, I felt a jolt of pain as something pierced through my eyes.

"OUCH!!"

I squirmed around from the pain but I could barely move because of the cuffs. The initial pain was horrible, but after a bit, I couldn't feel anything in my eyes. They felt completely numb…

"Okay, sigh, that should do." He pulled the panel off of my eyes, but I could tell there was still something in them… but at least I could see now.

"What did you do?" I snarled.

"Well we both know you will not respond truthfully…" He started clicking something on the device.

"So I have to use project Mind with you."

"What's that?"

He paused after my response.

"tsk, you seem different…"

Oh no, did Lydia know him… Wait, obviously she did, he seemed sympathetic when walking in.

"What'd you expect?" I scoffed.

"Why did you go to the Rusland facility?" He asked bluntly.

"What?"

"No use in lying, your record clearly states you arrived there."

"I don't… know?" I knew Lydia went to Rusland because the alien told me, but he didn't tell me why.

"What do you mean-!" He stopped abruptly.

"When did you go into that facility?"

"What facility?" I sort of knew what he was talking about, but I wanted to see if his device thing actually worked.

"THE RUSLAND ONE LYDIA!" He yelled in my face in frustration slamming the armrest of the chair.

I swallowed and responded, "I d-don't know?" This escalated quicker than I expected…

He backed up and looked at the device he was holding. He slowly started pinching the bridge of his nose trying to comprehend the situation.

"This says you are not lying… but how? Your records clearly show you going there…"

While he was thinking, I realized whatever he put into my eyes was definitely something to tell if I was lying… and since Lydia is the one who did whatever he's talking about, everything I say will come up as me telling the truth. Since at the end of the day, he can't get information out of me that I don't know.

After a brief time of thinking, I saw his eyes light up, as if an idea just popped up.

"Lydia… did you forget something??"

"What-"

"Like, sigh, are you even Lydia?" He looked me in the eyes.

Oh crap. If I say yes, he's going to know I'm lying because of whatever he put in my eyes… but, how do I even explain?

He put his hand on his chin and noted, "I guess it is possible that Lydia never came back from Rusland, and 1-080 attached to her…"

"What are you-" He cut me off.

"But that does not make sense… since I believe subject 2 was a perfect candidate… while Lydia was not."

"Also, why would 1-080 willingly connect to a different host? That just does not make sense…"

It was almost like I was not in the room. He just kept talking about the alien and how I shouldn't have been able to bond with it… It felt almost like-

He was doing it on purpose.

"What do you want." I spat.

"Bingo! You got me." He faced me as he lifted a finger up when saying bingo.

"Since we both know you are not Lydia… I mean, I did not even need this device to tell me that." He grabbed the same panel as before and set it on my face.

He's the first person to realize I wasn't Lydia… meaning they must have been really close. Was he the boyfriend-

"Ouch!" I thought my eyes were numb, but I guess they weren't as he pulled the needles out.

He closed the device and shoved it into his pocket.

"Come out." He said calmly as he looked me in the eyes, but he wasn't talking to me.

After a bit, nothing happened. I know he was talking to the alien, but he didn't show up.

"Hmm… I wonder, do you have any of Lydia's memories?"

"Did you perhaps…"

"Kill her." He quickly placed his hands around my neck.

"WHAT ARE YOU- GAUH!"

"WHERE IS SHE!" He screamed into my face.

I could barely breath, and if I didn't do anything, I'd probably die again.

With all of the remaining energy that I had, I managed to transform my hand enough to break the cuff and sucker punch him across the room.

Slam!

His body left a dent in the wall as he fell down.

"Cough!" He coughed up some blood as he held his side where I punched him.

He slowly looked up as he said, "What are you?"

He coughed a couple more times as he stood back up regaining balance.

"I have never seen… this?"

"You are definitely not 1-080… but if you are not, then…" As he said this my arm started transforming back… I still couldn't fully control it.

"I do not know what you have done with Lydia, but I will make sure to make you talk." Shivers went down my spine as he glared directly into my eyes as he said this.

He's the first person to notice that I'm not Lydia… and I'm worried to what lengths he will go to figure out who I am.

"I will be back." He stated as he walked through the door as it rose.

This was my chance! He hadn't fixed the cuff yet, but he's probably getting someone to do that right now so I need to be fast.

Come on! Transform!

I could feel a tingling feeling in my legs, but they just wouldn't budge… so with my free hand, I started tugging on the other cuff to try and give myself a little room to slip my arm out.

I managed to pull the cuff up just enough to slide my arm through, scraping it a bit on the way out.

"Lets go-" I celebrated too early…

"What are you doing?"

I froze, and slowly looked up to see a guard holding an electrical baton, and his eyes shining as if he had been waiting for this opportunity to use it for ages.
