Chapter 363 - Chapter 363: Scorpo hearts

[[Second bonus chapter, there is still one more to earn people.]]

"He plans to attack the Scorpo?" Dulaebella asked in shock.

"Has a lone mech ever faced off against such a dangerous creature that is powerful enough to cut through a ship's hull?" Raella asked.

"Not that I'm aware of," Dulaebella replied.

"Because of this unprecedented event of a mech about to battle a Scorpo and because the UMB Cup is all about mech battles, Director Opealbeard himself ordered the feed switch to observe this battle. We will try to get more cameras out there ASAP, but for now, please bear with this single camera angle," Honcho informed everyone.

"Director Opealbeard made a good call; this is far more interesting than the charity match that Prime Black was obviously going to win," Dulaebella said happily.

"Yeah, as long as Spector Unit Six isn't destroyed by the Scorpo straight away," Raella added.

"For our younger viewers who are unaware, the reason that the Scorpo's appearance is such a big deal is not only because of what Raella said before about them being powerful enough to destroy a ship, but also because of the carnage they caused before the founding of the Universal Senate," Honcho began to explain.

"As your history teachers will have informed you all in school, before the founding of the Universal Senate, the universe was a far more dangerous place. There were many reasons for this, but for now, I will only focus on one of the few creatures naturally capable of sub-space travel, the Scorpo.

There were many more Scorpos in the universe during that time than there are today, and the known races would regularly run into them, not only in space but also when the Scorpos decided to land on a humanoid-populated planet in order to hunt and feed on the planet's population.

Scorpos would regularly hunt humanoids because of the lack of defence we had against them back then, since there was no sharing of technology, and very few races were actually capable of spaceflight.

Because the Scorpos would often land on these planets to hunt sentient species, they became feared, and any attempts to stop them failed, that is, until a Brood female named Kavita started to make a name for herself in the universe.

Most of you should have already been taught that Kavita, along with her twelve lovers, founded the Universal Senate, but before that happened, one of their many accomplishments was the campaign they led against the Scorpos.

Before they all became famous and influential people in their own races, Kavita and her lovers led their friends and family members against the Scorpos; they battled and killed any that landed on planets, while also eliminating any they encountered in space.

Eventually, the Scorpos, though incapable of any type of communication that we can comprehend, learned to stay away from humanoid-populated planets and from then on only hunted humanoids if they were onboard lone ships they came across in space.

During the founding of the Universal Senate, Kavita and her lovers made several founding decrees, one of them being that should any Scorpo approach near a human-populated planet, that planet should immediately dispatch their defence force to eliminate said Scorpo."

During Honcho's explanation about Scorpos, everyone watching the Sportscast feed watched as Spector Unit Six flew between the Scorpo and Levithen before opening fire on the Scorpo with its 4 shoulder-cannons, 2 mini wrist-mounted repeaters and 8 drones.

Blaster bolts erupted from the 14 weapons, lighting up the area heading directly for the Scorpo, which raised its large pincers in front of itself in defence while evading to the side.

Around half of the blaster bolts fired managed to hit the Scorpo, causing it to glare at Spector Unit Six while it opened its mouth as if it was screaming, though no sound was heard.

As it glared at him, Adam noticed that the Scorpos' eyes suddenly turned red before energy beams erupted from them and towards him.

"Fuck!" Adam cursed as he instinctively raised Spector Unit 6's left arm, causing it to split open to reveal a black gaping hole that absorbed the energy beams before the split closed up again.

"YOU NEVER TOLD ME THE FUCKING THING HAD EYEBEAMS!" Adam cursed angrily.

💫💫💫

[RealOtaku (Earth): OMFG, where those eyebeams?😍]

[Emojisonly (Earth): 😍]

[Animefangirl (Earth): That's so fucking Anime. 😍]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): How the fuck does a giant scorpion with tentacle legs shoot lasers from its eyes?]

[HackerSu (Trillion): What's so strange about that? I mean, the streamer has a dragon travelling on his ship that can release a destructive breath attack from its mouth.]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Fair.]

[NonpareilRaphilia (Aaru): The beam canceler even works on the energy beams the Scorpos shoot from their eyes?]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): How does that even work?]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): It has been theorised that it could be because of the mech's anti-gravity drive, which creates a miniature black hole in front of the open section of armour.

The miniature black hole then sucks in everything in front of it, including the light and energy from the beam.]

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): That's stupid advanced.]

"That thing alone gave the NDS thirteen per cent?" Adam asked in shock as he noticed the notification.

[[Affirmative, the energy beams that Scorpos releases from its eyes are powerful enough to penetrate the shields of ships beneath medium-class.]]

"You could have warned me that it shoots eyebeams?" Adam complained.

[[You experienced training against space creatures that shoot energy beams and other things in Space Rogue; you should have been prepared for that.]]

Adam had Spector Unit 6 start to fly sideways and away from the Levithen while continuing to fire energy bolts at the Scorpo.

The Scorpo glared at Spector Unit Six before turning to look at the young Levithen, then back at Spector Unit Six and back at the Levithen again as if it could not decide if it really wanted to attack and destroy the pesky fly that was annoying it, or eat the delicious meal it had chased halfway across the universe.

Finally, it couldn't stand the annoying red lights that kept striking its pincer and causing it a stinging pain while leaving burn marks, so it turned away from the Levithen and flew towards the annoying little bug while again firing energy beams from its eyes.

"I can't believe he's actually attacking the Scorpo all alone. You both found yourself one heck of a boyfriend," Aphrodite remarked with bright eyes as she felt a tingling sensation between her legs

"Of course, are you jealous?" Stacey asked with a smirk.

"Yes," Aphrodite replied simply.

"Yes," Becky replied, causing everyone to look at her in surprise.

"What? It's no secret that I am attracted to Adam," Becky stated adamantly.

"While I'm happy that he is preventing the Scorpo from killing and devouring the young Levithen and leading it away from it, I kind of wish he hadn't attacked it all alone," Lorelie said with a mixture of pride and concern.

"He must have a reason for doing it, he said about getting out of there before suddenly changing his mind after all," Rowena said before adding, "something specific must have caused him to change his mind and attack the Scorpo."

"I wonder how he plans to beat the Scorpo, I mean, his energy blasts don't seem to be doing anything other than making the Scorpo angry," Mika said with interest.

"Slice that Scorpo up, Adam, then cut out its heart and eat it," Tephe cheered.

"Eat it? Really?" Tessa asked in surprise with a look of mild disgust.

"Oh yeah, Scorpo heart tastes great, it's also full of nutritious energy," Tephe said as she salivated slightly while remembering the taste.

"I agree," Eri replied, surprising the others.

"You have also eaten Scorpo heart?" Tessa asked in surprise.

"Only once a long time ago and only a very small amount since too much would have killed me," Eri replied.

"Killed you?" Lorelie asked in surprise.

"Ah, yes, now that you mention it, I remember hearing about this from our ancestor Kavita when I was a small girl," Rowena suddenly said.

"What did she say?" Stacey asked curiously.

Rowena closed her eyes for a few moments as if trying to recall the memory before opening them and saying, "Scorpo hearts, like Dragon hearts and the hearts of all the other species that can travel through sub-space using their own power, are full of a strange type of energy that allows them to open tears in sub-space.

This energy is very nutritious and beneficial to the other species that can travel in sub-space, like the Dragons. It is even beneficial to certain races that have animistic traits, such as the Catonians or the Nogitsune, but only in very small amounts and in very rare intervals.

If those other races eat too much of the heart in a short period of time, then the energy will overload their body, causing them to explode from the inside out."

"Beneficial in what way?" Becky asked curiously.

"The main benefit is that the energy lengthens the lifespan of these races by a small amount, supposedly. If an individual of one of those races who is dying consumes a small piece of the heart constantly without overdosing, they can recover from their deathbed and extend their life indefinitely," Rowena replied.
