Peter was unaware that he had critically hit Belasco twice before even meeting him—the sorcerer's attempt to corrupt Peter's soul had activated Knull's power, strengthening Peter's ability to draw energy from Limbo, and the attack on his soul directly triggered a counter-attack from the Web of Destiny.
He was still searching for Illyana .
Limbo was teeming with demons and corrupted creatures, most notably mutants. For some reason, he occasionally encountered demonized mutants. According to the Multiversal travel bracelet given to him by Miguel, these mutants hailed from different realities.
"In other words, Belasco may have conquered more than one universe and corrupted a large number of X-Men for his army. He's an enemy not to be underestimated."
Relying on his Spider-Sense, which was magically amplified into a kind of pre-cognitive marker, and his optical camouflage ability, Peter hid his form in Limbo, avoiding the demons' attacks while searching for Illyana. For some reason, Illyana's distance seemed to be growing further and further away.
But he wasn't without clues. For instance, Peter found bodies sliced in half and the corpses of demons incinerated by black magic.
Magic is typically categorized into three types: White Magic, focused on protection, repair, healing, and enhancement; and Black Magic, centered on damage and control. Of course, this is merely a categorization based on use and doesn't inherently define a spell as evil or not.
Beyond those is Chaos Magic, also known as Primal Magic. Aside from the incantations recorded in the Darkhold, no one can learn this magic. Wanda can wield Chaos Energy, but that is innate.
"Someone is using magic to eliminate demons. Interesting. Whether it's Illyana or not, they aren't our enemies. In that case... woah!"
The Spider-Sense involuntarily screamed. Peter dodged at top speed, and a firestorm erupted where he had been standing moments before.
Peter looked into the sky. A figure was flying low, and the person looked like someone Peter had recently seen: Ororo, Storm—the demonic version, at least clearly distinguishable in appearance.
With scarlet skin and sharp fingers, she looked far removed from a human. Peter wasn't sure if she was an enemy but didn't act rashly.
However, she seemed certain someone was hiding there and unleashed a larger firestorm to suppress the area, but it still missed Peter. Following the guidance of his Spider-Sense, Peter casually strolled directly beneath Ororo and shot a web at her.
He then forcefully pulled her down to the ground.
"Apologies, ma'am, I can't determine which side you're on, but at least I'm sure you know who killed these demons, right?"
Peter remained invisible, but his voice came from a different direction. Before she could get up, another unexpected person charged over.
It was Shadowcat, but again, not the one Peter knew. She also seemed to have been affected by Limbo's environment, having grown a genuine cat tail and ears, and her limb structure and face had mutated to resemble a cat, making her look quite bizarre.
Next, a skeletal Wolverine, reduced almost to bone, lunged out, wreathed in sulfur-smelling flames, charging toward the invisible Peter. Peter jumped to evade and used his web to completely cover the burning Wolverine, pinning him to the ground.
"My apologies. I hope this isn't the answer to your questions." Peter revealed his form, but it didn't seem to help; they continued to attack him. So, Peter caused the symbiote on his left arm to become unstable, turning it into a blade and attacking all three simultaneously.
Then, his Spider-Sense informed him of the next event: a tall, elderly woman would charge down wielding a greatsword.
Sure enough, the instant Peter dodged, a greatsword cleaved the ground where he had just stood. While dodging, he used his bracelet to check if the elderly woman—who looked to be in her late fifties or sixties—was his universe's Magik.
After confirming she was a different person, Peter asked: "If you aren't Belasco's subordinates, can you tell me where the other Illyana Rasputina is? She's from Earth-616, my universe, and was about twelve years old when she arrived here..."
"We found that the X-Men were missing, so we tracked them here. I am Spider-Man. I don't know if you've heard of me."
Just as he was speaking, his Spider-Sense screamed again. Peter quickly spun around and delivered a kick to the wrist of a blond girl about his age who was wielding a greatsword.
Peter held back his strength, but the greatsword still flew out of the girl's hand. The girl, who had been disarmed, looked utterly cold: "You're too late, Spider-Man. It's been over three years."
The originally 12-year-old Illyana Rasputina had already celebrated her 15th birthday in Limbo, celebrating by slaying a giant demon at her party.
And now, suddenly, someone appeared, claiming to be there to rescue her. No one would believe it.
"In reality, only a few minutes might have passed for us. For most people at the X-Mansion, the passage of time is negligible."
Peter offered the explanation, but he didn't expect Illyana and the others to immediately trust him. Trust is inherently mutual, and only trust forged through actions is truly reliable.
"Alright, maybe you're not our enemy, but then what?"
The demon Wolverine looked at Peter. He looked half-charred, nearly a skeleton, and gestured to the five people present: "By now, there are few left who dare to resist Belasco. Only those of us here. How do you plan to help us fight Belasco?"
Could six people really take down Belasco? The demon Wolverine certainly didn't believe it.
"The X-Men from Earth-616 are merely imprisoned for the personal reasons of the Immortal; they haven't been corrupted."
Peter first listed the most important asset: reinforcements. He then explained the method to defeat Belasco: "Then, we rely on the Sorcerer Supreme of our world. The Sorcerer Supreme is constantly monitoring my actions. He should have already sensed my disappearance."
This approach, which relied on others coming to the rescue, clearly didn't gain the demon Wolverine's approval, but there seemed to be no other way to solve the problem at hand.
So, the demon Wolverine asked the next question.
"Then how can we free those superheroes under Belasco's own surveillance?"
