Chapter 245 - Chapter 245: An Illusion? When Did It Happen!

Cindy stood up. After seeing the older versions of Gwen and Peter, and the identical lab coats they wore, she understood what was happening. She just didn't quite grasp why there were two Gwen Stacys.

"Peter isn't here."

Gwen was about to say something but suddenly understood Cindy's meaning. She asked with a hint of curiosity, "Wait, can you travel through the Multiverse too?"

"...This isn't a parallel universe. This is a pocket universe generated by the Soul Stone based on the thoughts and wishes in everyone's hearts. It's not a new parallel universe."

Based on the thoughts and wishes in everyone's hearts...

Wait?

Gwen, realizing something, opened her mouth to ask a question, but Cindy simply glanced around and added, "I have to find Peter."

Peter must be here too...

Understanding this, Gwen decided not to ask the question she had planned. She took a deep breath, let Venom transform into the Symbiote suit, and put it on. She explained to Cindy, whose eyes held some surprise, "Peter let Venom come to protect me."

So the Peter in this universe doesn't have Venom, not because he really sent Venom back, but because this pocket universe doesn't have Venom? That's why there's no Baxter Building or Avengers Tower here. I've never been to the Baxter Building, and I've only been to the Avengers Tower once. As for Oscorp Tower, I went there for the Oscorp Tech Exhibition.

Speaking of which, why didn't Venom enter the world of his dreams?

[I think things are great now.]

Well, you can't give a dream to a salted fish who thinks they have no more needs.

Gwen scratched her head after roughly understanding. She looked at the older versions of herself and Peter behind her. She wasn't sure if the two of them had grasped the situation, but the older Peter took off his lab coat, revealing the uniform underneath.

"It sounds like you two need help, right?" he asked. "So, when do we leave?"

Cindy looked at Gwen. After a moment of contemplation, Gwen extended her hand. If this was a dream, then everything would end once the dream broke.

The next moment, the entirety of Manhattan vanished. The two girls reappeared in a blank grassland. The plants here were unlike any Gwen had ever seen, rendered in purple and blue, not looking like Earth flora.

"Whose... mind universe is this now?"

"Adam Warlock. That little golden man; he's the owner of the Soul Stone," Cindy said. She then stood on her toes and reached out a hand, seeming to be fumbling for something. Gwen waited beside her. If the previous one was her inner universe, then was her ideal...

Was it being able to help Peter? Yes, that must be it.

[You can fool others, but don't fool yourself.]

Shut up, Venom.

Patting her slightly flushed face, Gwen coughed twice and asked, "Um, can I ask what you experienced, Classmate Moon? You don't have to say anything if you don't want to..."

"The same as you."

Well, she answered very directly.

"I sensed that the person in front of me wasn't actually Peter, so I broke the whole thing open," Cindy said calmly. Then, seeming to grasp something, she tore down the space itself, like pulling down a curtain.

The girls' clothes changed back to normal casual wear, and they reappeared on the streets of Manhattan. Cindy felt the surroundings and said with certainty, "Peter is here."

"Okay, Manhattan again, but where do we find Peter?"

Cindy raised her hand. Gwen followed Cindy's gaze and saw the advertising slogan on a large screen.

[Parker Industries: Bringing You Life, Innovation, and a Better Tomorrow.]

Parker Industries was a high-tech company jointly founded by young entrepreneur and scientist Peter Parker and his high school classmates Harry Osborn and Amadeus Cho. This company had a very peculiar, even alternative, characteristic: they publicly disclosed all their patents to the world, relying solely on higher-quality and cheaper products for profit instead of relying on patent fees.

"Publicly disclosing all patents for free, like Tesla did with his AC patents, is certainly something he would do."

Gwen said, then unskillfully swung on a web, following Cindy to the Parker Industries tower. It was a building she had never seen before, located somewhere in Hell's Kitchen.

They sneaked over the fence and crept forward in a corner. Cindy stopped and tilted her head, looking at the security booth at the entrance. A particularly tall doorman was chatting with an employee driving in, then let them drive through.

"That's Aleksei Sytsevich."

Cindy's words made Gwen pause, and she asked back, confused, "Who is that?"

"The Rhino. A man with advanced bionic protective skin implanted. Peter fought him."

"And he's here now... working as a security guard? Huh, interesting~"

The two girls continued talking while sneaking into the building. The receptionist completely failed to notice the two girls clinging to the ceiling and quietly snatching two intern IDs from the front desk using webbing. Afterward, the two girls each stole an intern's lab coat and strolled in boldly.

"Where are we going? Peter's office?"

"I don't know."

Cindy's answer surprised the slightly expectant Gwen, who then questioned back in disbelief, "How can you not know? Aren't you supposed to be able to sense his presence?"

"He's definitely here, but he's flickering, like Schrödinger's cat—in a superposition."

What does that mean? Peter is here and not here at the same time?

Having no choice, the two took the elevator to the top-floor CEO's office. On the way, the elevator stopped, and a black researcher walked in with a smile, greeted the two girls, and then got off on his floor.

"That's Herman Schultz."

"The Shocker?" Gwen lifted her hair. She remembered this person; he was the first supervillain Peter faced.

Yet, like the Rhino, he was working at Parker Industries?

"I checked the news on the way here. This world has superheroes, but absolutely no supervillains. Everyone lives in peace. Essentially, the superheroes haven't caused any global interference."

"And all the supervillains have become ordinary people. They got the life they wanted. Shocker became a famous scientist, and the Rhino... I don't know why he was a villain," Gwen sighed. "This is the world Peter wants."
