Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Thoughts of Cyborg

Cyborg observed with suspicion the woman who was clearly putting away several of his internal parts while his systems indicated that he had been shut down for a few minutes during which new parts were inserted into him. Yes, he did not know how to feel. On one hand, they treated him, and on the other, they opened him up as if he were just another piece of machinery.

He did not seem to be the only suspicious one of his group, given the looks of contained terror as well as relief upon seeing him open his eyes again. He could notice that even without the array of sensors he possessed. For that very reason, he felt "touched." It was not the exact word he was looking for, but it was not far from reality.

But what could he do besides give thanks for the repair? Nothing. He did not know how these beings would react to his complaints, which could result in them ending up dead or on a table being cut open to see how they worked if what he could gather from the previous conversation was correct. Yes, he could safely state that he was not, nor would he ever be, the most prudent among the Teen Titans, but being partly a machine allowed him to calm down, or at least his version of calm, while analyzing everything possible about the woman who had practically opened him like a glorified sardine can only a few minutes ago.

Apparently, they would be escorted on a kind of tour so they would not accidentally kill themselves by entering somewhere they should not, and he quotes textually: "We tell you this because you will inevitably try to gather information. It is better that you know how not to kill yourselves with the automatic defenses of the place or by accidentally activating a protocol that ends up vaporizing you." The clear warning was hidden in the message. He could only snort while his only non mechanical eye almost twitched, but that did not stop him from seeing how internally the rest of the team grew a bit angry at the insult to their general intelligence.

He is angry, and he will remain angry for a while, but he forced himself to calm down again since he had to continue gathering information about this civilization that seemed to know more than they really let on in their actions.

One of the things he could gather is that they are an extremely strange species. Despite having only interacted directly with a few members of it, it was clear from the way they explained things and from their actions that they were direct, very direct, but also with the clear feeling that they did not care what they thought of their actions. Or maybe their culture is inherently like that? Raven mentioned they had some kind of psychic power as well as magic of some sort, so maybe a kind of connection between all the members? He hoped that was not it. For the love of God, he did not know. He just wanted to be in the Tower with the rest of his teammates, maybe give a beating to some bad guys, you know, play some video game with Beast Boy or work on his car while having some freshly made pizza with cheap soda, not dealing with dimensional aliens after a fight against the demon father of one of his friends.

Now focusing on the woman known as F V 4, apparently the tour would begin shortly, and by shortly, it was immediately, since the stretchers they were on rose slightly from the ground in the same way the machinery seen before was propelled. With that done, the metallic doors opened quickly with a slight hum while they floated behind the woman who, despite moving completely only with her legs, seemed to go slowly as well as quickly, which was extremely strange. It was like seeing someone walk slowly in fast forward, which earned a couple of indicators for his sensors and a headache for the rest of his team as their minds tried to predict her movements.

The hallway was long with few doors that had no more indicators than a series of black and white color codes that reminded him of a circuit mixed with strange symbols but without any discordance.

The metallic white color with red and black lines ran through the place as indicators. While they moved through the place, F V 4 did not go into many details about the location beyond brief explanations about each thing.

The place is just a normal medical wing by the standards of this species, which is defined as a kind of building extremely stylized like electronic machinery with all the circuit boards visible, only there were no circuits, just neon lights embedded in the metal itself. The woman, with a look of disdain or her normal expression, he would never really understand her expressions, explained how to enter the rooms, how to exit, and how to find their way in general. Everything was very simple. You only had to touch the indicator circuit board next to each door for it to show a fairly minimalist interface that verified access permissions as well as gave certain directions in case of getting lost. The way to guide oneself is simple. The first four numbers are the floor you are on. Yes, he could admit he paled a bit at that figure. The next four numbers are the room indicator per floor. They would stay in rooms 1000 to 1004. The last numbers indicated if the room was in use and for what purpose with a specific letter, but she did not go into much detail with those things.

Continuing with that, they let them out. Cyborg already expected something extremely high tech, but he did not expect that buildings larger than the mountains themselves would be suspended in the air like leaves drifting in the wind. The city itself seemed taken from a kind of fairy tale adorned under a cold layer of metal and light, everything moving under an incomprehensible rhythm of order so utterly colossal that it could seem like chaos. Vines grew everywhere giving light with their exotic flowers. The stars and the sky were nothing more than parts of a machine so vast that it swallowed reality itself. In the distance, when his sight could reach no further, more cities like this one were visible, all floating over sand of strange colors.

He was not the only one surprised. You have to give it to these guys: this place is simply amazingly impossible. Not to mention its inhabitants, who moved with grace between buildings walking along floating paths in the air.

He did not need his sensors to know that moan of wonder was from Robin, not to mention Raven's conflicted expression while looking at all this, or the sounds of barely disguised excitement from Starfire. He will not mention that he had to pull up Beast Boy's chin because it was almost touching the ground at the sight of the infinitely impossible place.
