Kimi's eyes snapped open as she shoved Kolton away from her with both hands pressed against his chest.
"What is wrong with you? Can't you just leave me alone?" Her voice trembled with disbelief and frustration.
Kolton staggered back slightly, clearly not expecting the force behind her push. He lifted the cigarette still dangling between his fingers and took a slow drag, his dark eyes never leaving her face.
"You called me filthy last night, sweetheart. Did you really think I'd just walk away after that insult?"
"Stop with the pet names. You're no better than any other bully at this school," she whispered, feeling tears prick at the corners of her eyes.
But there was no way she would give him the satisfaction of seeing her break down. Not again. Not after everything he had already put her through.
Kolton's expression grew even darker as he exhaled smoke into the space between them.
