I heard the shouting before I saw anything. Debra grabbed my arm while I was organizing my locker, her eyes wide with panic.
"Elara! Rhys and Liam are fighting outside!"
My heart dropped to my stomach. "Fighting? What do you mean?"
Seraphina appeared behind her, breathless. "It's bad, Elara. Liam punched Rhys, and now they're going at it. Everyone's watching!"
I slammed my locker shut and took off running, pushing through the crowded hallway. Students were rushing in the same direction, eager to witness the spectacle. My pulse hammered in my ears as I burst through the double doors into the courtyard.
A circle had formed around them. Through gaps between bodies, I caught glimpses of Liam's tall frame and Rhys's dark hair. The crowd roared as someone landed a heavy blow.
"Let me through!" I shoved forward desperately, elbowing my way to the front.
