Chapter 2 - Chapter 02— The mission, part 01

The next day, the two brothers were watching the bishop's presentation. The old priest was performing his "miracles": reconstructing a broken arm and completely transforming a stone into a golden statue. Naturally, this caught the brothers' attention.

— Hmm… well, I don't think his spirit's power is just shape-shifting. It must also involve manipulating the material of the object.

Kura said this and then left the scene with his brother. The duo headed to the back of the Temple of the Gods, where that bishop held command.

Quickly, the previously masked brother used a technique granted by his spirit's power — in this case, electrical location based on people's heartbeats. He located one of the priests in a room near a window.

— Bingo! Arold, wait here. I'll get the info and send you the signal.

He immediately latched onto a steel pillar using electromagnetism to pull himself toward the metal and climbed up to the window where the priest was. He jumped in through the window, which obviously startled the religious man. When the priest turned around, he was met with a punch to the face, followed by a small electric shock to his ear. That was one of Kura's techniques — using electricity to manipulate the person struck.

— Alright, take me to the bishop's office. Also, make sure those under you let my brother in… tell them he's a high-ranking member of the clergy.

The priest obeyed the masked young man's commands. No one else of equal rank was around, as they were all assisting the bishop with his public performance. This priest, the only one who had stayed behind, was left in charge of paperwork.

The masked brother was taken to the bishop's office and immediately began digging through his documents, while the younger brother entered through the back door carrying some sound equipment, asking to be taken to the temple's rooftop.

Kura finally found what he was looking for: documents about a revolution.

— Oh, so the old professors were right!

He remembered the mission he had been given — a test from the military academy, where all candidates had to eliminate revolutionaries assigned to them. The priest's involvement in the revolution had just been confirmed. Kura killed him mercilessly, frying the man's brain with a shock.

— I'm sorry… but I have my own reasons for wanting to pass this exam.

The young man then hid the priest's body under the bishop's desk and stayed there, waiting for the bishop to return.

Meanwhile, Arold installed the sound equipment on the rooftop — two speakers. He ran the wires down into an underground hallway of the temple, leaving them there to make it easier for his brother to activate them using electricity.

After a few minutes, the bishop returned, heading straight to his office. But when he arrived, he found the young man sitting in his chair.

— Hey, kid, who the hell are you and how did you get in here?!

The so-called miracle worker questioned him, but the boy answered swiftly, firing a small bolt of lightning at the bishop in an attempt to kill him instantly. However, the old man dodged just in time.

— Who am I? Well, I'll be blunt…

He stood up, slamming his right hand on the bishop's desk, knocking over some pens and a glass, sending everything crashing to the floor.

— My name is Kurayami. I'm a soldier-in-training. And to become a real soldier… I need to bring your head to my examiners!

The intruder assumed a fighting stance, staring at the bishop as he continued:

— It's nothing personal, but I need the money from this job to help some people… So after you end up in hell, don't hold a grudge against me, alright? You understand, don't you?

Some of the bishop's subordinates ran over, asking what had happened.

— An intruder got in here! A damn soldier broke into the temple! Check if anyone came with him — if so, beat the bastards and kill them!

They quickly remembered the younger brother of the young soldier and went after him in the temple's underground area. Kura, of course, tried to stop them, firing a large electric bolt. However, the bishop changed the structure of the wall into metal, attracting the electricity and successfully blocking the attack.

Locking eyes with the young man, the elderly miracle-working bishop shouted in a harsh tone:

— Your fight is with me, you little piece of shit soldier!
