Chapter 8 - The Constantine brothers

BRITTANY'S POV

I itched to ask more about what he meant by taking the throne and having me. I never wanted him either so why would he think he could have me?

However, I thought of one thing. Since he was one of the brothers of the family I got married into, he should know more about the traditions and everything that was happening around me.

Like I said earlier, I still didn't know who I was at the moment. I couldn't tell if I was dead or alive as this wasn't what those beasts looked like.

There were drawings of what the beasts looked like in the king's palace back home and what I saw in the dark forest that night looked like beasts so what was going on? What's with marriage and Luna?

"So who annoyed my Luna?" He was persistent and I liked that. He wasn't like that brother of his who couldn't keep a conversation going.

I closed my eyes and sighed. I massaged my hand with my other hand and looked at me. "Giuseppe?"

He nodded. Giuseppe was a fine tall gentleman. The more I noticed his beard, the more I got reminded about his age and that he was very much older than me.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Anything. I'll try my best to answer truthfully," he said.

I smiled. He was nice.

"Why don't I take you to a place warmer? It's cold out here and this is a warning," he pointed his finger at me. "... never come here alone. It's dangerous and we wouldn't want something bad to happen to our Luna," he warned.

I nodded but was curious about why this place was dangerous.

He walked forward and I followed him. He took off his jacket and placed it to hang on my shoulders.

I smiled again. It was warm and assuring. He was.

"So what are your questions?" He inquired as we walked.

I glanced up at him, hoping he'd answer because no one had been willing to answer.

"You know…" I kind of stammered because I was hoping really badly that I'd really get the answer to my questions. "...when I left my village, I went into the dark forest and some beasts came from me. I passed out and woke up to find out that I needed to choose between three brothers…" I paused, thinking about how I was going to present my questions.

Giuseppe took my hand and looked at the wounds. "Our soldiers must have been careless about your arrival," he uttered.

I lost hope. I was never going to understand anything.

"Well, you see, humans are created, animals are created and other species were also created. We are different and just as humans barely know about our existence we also may not have the knowledge of other creatures. So we happen to possess the power to shape shift to our other form. That's the kind if creature we are.

We are called Lycan. We can transform into big wolves; not a regular one so I don't blame you for calling us beasts because we know how huge we are when we shape shift.

I would have shape shifted in front of you but…that would mean seeing me without clothes," he chuckled.

I like Giuseppe. He was a gentleman. His tone was soft and steady, diminishing every sense of fear and cautiousness out of me slowly. I wish I had chosen him instead of his cruel brother.

"So I'm in the right place," I muttered.

"Yes, Luna," he always made sure that I didn't feel like I was speaking to a wall by always responding to me.

"I must warn you again, Luna. We aren't the only shape shifters in existence. We have the Lycan wolf, werewolves, witches and some others and we all are hungry for power so we aren't friends. Our greatest enemy is the werewolves."

I nodded my head, understanding his statement. "I'll keep that in mind," I smiled at him, feeling safe, so safe that I didn't know when we walked out of the forest.

The celebration was still alive but we walked past it.

"They like you and are happy to have you here," he whispered to me as I looked at everyone joyfully celebrating.

I glanced at him because his statement surprised me. I never expected leaving home to come to a place where they'd love me without even knowing who I was.

That was heartwarming. Could I say that I was in the right place? However, the moment I thought about the man I married, I took back those words.

I didn't even know where he went after I left him in the forest and I didn't care. It was his hometown so he would know his way around.

We entered the palace and I think the enormous space with bright lights that didn't seem to be caused by lanterns was the lobby.

The place was luxurious, and I realized that the Lycan wolves village was richer and more advanced than my village. Was it because they were wolves?

Oh well, I really loved this place and hoped that I could bring my family here as people in my community didn't deserve me or the girls they had sacrificed.

"Welcome to Red Moon Circle, Luna Brittany," he took my knuckles again and bowed before me. That was a bit too much but I couldn't help giggling.

"I know nothing about this Luna thing," I said.

He kissed my knuckles again and continued leading me to places around the palace.

We went through a corridor and a lot of priceless things were placed in every corner of the corridor we were walking through.

"In a pack, just like your Kingdom, you have a leader, a second in command, advisor and others but you know that there are some people who cannot be compared to those in power. So we have the same thing here.

We have the Alpha, the most powerful in the pack but being the most powerful doesn't make you all knowing or intelligent, so he needs a beta, who's the second in command, we also the gamma, almost like the third in command but he's best at doing the plotting and thinking.

We have the omega, the weakest in the pack and they are mostly females.

Well, once upon a time, an Alpha mated, that is married an omega and have her killed because their was a big misunderstanding about her having an affair with the werewolves. You know they are our enemies.

She cursed the royal family to never be able to conceive children with she-wolves before her death, and it was the gamma that brought a solution.

We found your community and wanted to be one with your community but we couldn't. No one knew why because what happened was kept in the past but the king of your village accepted to sacrifice one virgin to us every twenty years."

Things were finally making sense to me and I found out that the reason they never wanted me to know what was going on was because the previous virgin who made it to the pack killed herself, which was why the three brothers were unmarried.

He showed me the kitchen, the throne room, the Royal rooms, the royal dressing rooms, and finally stopped in front of a door.

He told me that he'd show me more of the palace and learn more about Lycan wolves when I had taken some rest.

The door went open and I saw that it was the man I married that opened the door for me.

Gloria ran out of the room and hugged me tightly. "Where have you been? I searched every corner in the castle for you," She sounded so worried, reminding me of my mother.

My eyes landed on Giovanni to see that he was looking at his brother.

I was curious about why his expression was a bit off, so I looked at Giuseppe. It looked as if they were communicating without talking.

"Intriguing. I have to deliver the Luna to our so-called Alpha, which only means one thing, you…" he stopped.

While Gloria was all around me, checking if I was okay, I was witnessing the tension between both brothers.

Giuseppe was about to leave when someone entered the scene. He walked up to me and took my hand like Giuseppe did. He was gorgeous.

"It's an honor to meet you, Luna Brittany. I'm your second brother-in-law, Dante Constantine. Oh, my queen is so beautiful, so beautiful that even the stars would pause to listen to her breath," he pressed his lips on my hand tightly and raised his mesmerizing blue eyes to look at me.

His smile was charming and bright.

So, this was the third brother of the Constantine family.
