Chapter 10 - CHAPTER 10 – MEETING THE ASSASSIN

Alaric and Black stood in front of the Chairman of the hunter association, the recent development of the gate had caused a panic within the association following the report that Black had made, the last tower was designed by an individual, something like that was unfathomable at the least – the chairman looked over the reports that the two had given them regarding what they have encountered when they were stopping the tower.

He raised his eyes from the paper and looked at his secretary and the strongest hunter in South Korea. "So, this individual you suspect to be allied with the same one that attacked you the other day?" The chairman looked at Black and she nodded, the chairman rubbed his temples. The association needed to know about this revelation. Someone with the ability to draft towers at will was indeed concerning.

The chairman adjusted his glasses and slumped into his chair, fatigue visible on his face as he let out a long, heavy sigh. His eyes landed on Alaric and he could not figure out where he had seen the man's face. "According to Black, you are SSSS+ hunter but you can fight Continental+ hunter threats with ease…" The chairman paused and his eyes glowed red, his powerful aura flowing throughout his body, the office trembled from the sheer force that the man had subjected it to. "…What is your name, where did you come from and why did you conceal your rank."

Alaric sighed, he knew that someone was going to force him to reveal his identity, the writing off by the government had worked in his favor when it came to being mysterious but being in the presence of the chairman and his secretary, he knew he had no reason to hide the truth about him, where he came from? And why he hid his status as a powerful individual. "My name is Alaric Drakenfell, I was one of the hunters deployed in the Seoul incident three years ago."

Black and the chairman gasped, the tower in which the government classified as failure and barred Seoul from the public had a survivor which meant that the tower had been cleared and Seoul was open for exploration.

Alaric knew from the looks they were giving him, they were bound to ask him about the survivors, what happened in the tower and he raised his hand cutting them off before they could ask more questions, he had given them what they asked of him, further revelation given the circumstances regarding a being that can create towers would cause an even more bigger problem for world, the South Korean Hunter association branch and him. " I don't know what happened after I reached the last floor all I know is that when I woke up I was out of the tower and in Seoul."

The chairman groaned, the association and the guilds under them would no doubt be on his case. " You are hiding something aren't you?" He stared at Alaric then at the papers on his desk. " I am too old for this, what you said here should remain between the three people here. Understood?"

Black and Alaric nodded.

The chairman dismissed them after they gave their sworn that their discussion would remain with the individuals in the room, but little did they know a certain fly was listening to their conversation and it flocked away after Black and Alaric were dismissed.

The fly buzzed around the halls and it entered one of the buildings on the east side of the main association branch. The room had little to no ambience but from the powerful aura emanating from the darkness, the individual within the room was extremely powerful. From the darkness a pair of orange eyes flared into existence as their owner reached out and the fly sat on his finger, a chuckle left his lips after he took the information the information the fly had relayed to him regarding the chairman.

The man knew that a certain someone would go crazy for the information he had at his disposal, but he wanted to know how strong this Alaric was in comparison to the strongest individual in his guild, if they could defeat someone that had survived the tower that threatened humanity, then his faction would be strong enough to topple the old chairman, the prospect made the man laugh and a red flame burned into existence, despite its properties as a source of light, the flame did not even reach the man's face.

"Jae-Chun." The man said, his voice carrying a degree of authority and power.

The shadows moved and Jae-Chun appeared within a cloud of smoke, Jae-Chun was revealed by the flames; Red wild hair, piercing black eyes, elongated canine teeth. He wore a standard meshed shirt, with arm guards around his forearms, black pants and sandals. Around Jae-Chun's neck was a mask with tusks reminiscent of a demon. Jae-Chun bowed to the man. " You called my lord?"

" I have a job for you. And best not fail me."

*

Alaric walked along the dirt road leading to the outskirts of Seoul, the dense trees on either side of his vision concealed the moonlight, he sighed and yawned, the past month ever since he returned from the tower had been nothing but problems, first the mysterious group obsessed with him, and the inconsistent interactions he had between the two women, Cordelia and Black.

[ Something heading your way fast ]

Sentinel warned him and before he could fully process what was going on, his aura sensing skill detected a powerful aura signature that was rushing in his direction. Alaric had a fraction of a second to harden his forearm by revealing the dragon scales that were underneath his skin as a blade shine appeared from his blindside and a loud clang tipped through the air. His eyes met Jae-Chun who smirked and drew back his sword gaining a good distance between himself and Alaric.

Jae-Chun grinned and settled into a stance, his feet separated evenly, his katana aligned to his eye level and his weak hand balanced it from the back while his dominant hand held it in the middle, the bladed tip facing Alaric. " That attack was moving faster than sound and you blocked it, not bad."

Alaric lowered his hand. " Who are you and what do you want?"

Jae-Chun laughed a bit. " I am the red sparrow and as for what I want…hehe that is a simple one, your HEAD!!" Aura blasted from Jae-Chun as he shot toward Alaric his body faster than his shadow could keep up.

He appeared before Alaric who swung his clawed hand only for it to pass through the body of Jae-Chun who had repositioned to come from his unguarded side, He swung up tearing through Alaric's clothing and cutting him across the torso but shallow cause Alaric had moved out of range of the attack. Jae-Chun did not waste time pivoting on his foot and he lunged at Alaric thrusting his blade forward. Alaric grabbed the weapon and redirected it with his palm sending it spiraling out of control and put a distance between himself and Jae-Chun.

Jae-Chun stabbed his sword on the ground and flipped around and landed on the base of the handle of the sword, he folded his hands and focused his gaze on Alaric. "You are impressive, not once but twice you managed to dodge my attacks despite me using my red sparrow technique, maybe my master was not entirely wrong about you Drakenfell, you do show why you were the only one to survive the tower."

Alaric's demeanor changed when Jae-Chun said that, he glared at the man, in his mind he was wondering if the chairman was the one who sent the assassin. He lowered his hand and took a breather, his aura shot up creating a translucent pillar of crimson aura around him kicking off dust and creating a powerful gust which forced Jae-Chun to shield his face whistling at the display of power.

Jae-Chun's eyes widened when he saw Alaric vanish from sight and his body rocked back with tremendous force that sent him flying through the trees, Alaric flickered from sight again after he delivered the punch and he followed behind the rocked assassin, his hand grabbed Jae-Chun by the foot and he pulled Jae-Chun to him, Alaric delivered a punch smashing Jae-Chun head first into the ground, the ground groaned under the tremendous force and it split into multiple fragments while a huge dust cloud formed from the impact, once the dust cleared, Alaric let out a disappointed sigh when he saw that his hand had crushed a piece of wood, he got up and looked up from the crater he made.

Jae-Chun wiped the rivulets of blood from his lip and a relieved sigh escaped his lips as he grabbed his katana from the ground, he was glad that he had used the substitute or else where the broken wood was, would've been his head, he had underestimated Alaric. "You are strong, but I shall not underestimate you no more."

Alaric grinned and tightened his fist creating a gust of wind from that gesture. "You were lucky this time, next time? You won't be so lucky."
