Chapter Forty-Four
As soon as I woke up, I looked around in panic, but no matter how much I searched, I couldn't find Sylvia.
I looked at the clock—it was already eight in the evening. Visiting hours were over.
I couldn't help but feel sorry for the nurses who had to kick Sylvia out of the hospital. They must've had a really hard time.
"Ah, finally…" I shivered just remembering Sylvia's frightening behavior.
Because of my stupid mistake, I had created a terrifying yandere. I don't particularly hate yanderes, but it would be impossible to deal with her while trying to interact with the rest of the heroines.
Even after seeing Sylvia act like that, I still wanted a harem.
But the question is: how can I interact with the other heroines when Sylvia behaves like this?
"There's no other way but that…" I muttered under my breath.
I tried to get out of bed, but the pain in my body was still intense, so I lay back down.
Why hasn't a priest come yet? I couldn't help but wonder.
This is the best academy in the empire, yet they're taking so long to summon a priest.
Creak…
"Right this way, Priestess," I heard the nurses' voices from outside.
As soon as the door opened, I saw the person standing outside—
Emily Vintar, the future priestess of the empire.
In this world, the genders were swapped—priests were no longer men, but women.
She looked like a painting drawn by the hands of gods themselves... A girl so beautiful it was almost shocking. Her long, crimson-red hair cascaded over her shoulders like living fire. The strands danced freely, yet each one seemed to fall perfectly in place, as if even chaos had surrendered before her beauty.
A beauty so enchanting that even a child would find themselves stunned by it.
Her eyes were like pure ruby—deep crimson and glowing with a strange spiritual light. Her gaze could either cleanse your sins… or ignite a war. They spoke of everything… and yet revealed nothing.
Despite being called a saint, she didn't wear the typical robe of humility or chastity. Her outfit was adorned with fine golden embroidery—a mix between royal purity and divine mystery. With every step she took, her dress shimmered with a soft light, as if the threads were woven from sacred dawn itself.
And above her head floated a glowing ring—a holy halo, transparent and bright like a full moon. It didn't stay still but pulsed gently, as if breathing along with her.
(Picture in the first comment.)
I was completely stunned by the sight before me.
They didn't summon an ordinary priest…
They summoned the saint herself—and one of the heroines of this strange world.
But there was a tragic truth about her: she couldn't see.
Her entire storyline revolved around how the destined hero healed her, and she eventually fell in love with him.
Although he managed to heal her using holy power, it happened midway through the story, and it took a long time to build up.
But me? I could never heal her like the protagonist could. I didn't even have mana, let alone holy power.
However, I knew something else—something that could heal her… but it was extremely difficult to obtain.
Vampire blood.
Yes, my blood.
That's why most players chose the holy power path, since vampires had gone extinct centuries ago. But I had that blood thanks to the system, of course.
Still, there was something else required: the Essence of Purification.
Because priests—especially saints—naturally had extreme rejection toward vampires, I needed the essence to neutralize that rejection. And the only person who had it was the Headmistress.
So how was I supposed to get it from her?
Maybe it would take a long time to convince the Headmistress.
But that didn't matter.
What mattered… was that I would be the one to heal her.
The saint walked slowly toward me, leaving behind a gentle, refreshing scent.
Once she reached me, she gently held my hand and lifted it to examine the damage.
The moment she touched me, I felt something like electricity run through my body—right before I was hit with a sharp pain.
My torn muscles began to merge, and my broken bones started to regenerate and return to their natural state.
Even though the pain was intense, I clenched my teeth and endured it.
I looked at the saint in astonishment, but said nothing.
Damn it…
Did it really have to hurt that much?
The healing took a full minute before the saint quietly stood up and left the room without a word.
Normally, priests need rest after healing—sometimes a day or two, sometimes even weeks to recover their lost energy.
But because she was a saint, her energy never ran out. Still… she was very shy.
That's why she would always return to the church the moment she finished healing someone.
I looked at the nurse still standing in the room with confusion.
"Um… is there something else?"
"Yes. The Headmistress said you should report to her after the test… but since you were injured, you're a little late. So please head to her office immediately."
"…Is that really what she said?"
"Yes."
I grabbed the jacket hanging beside the bed and started heading toward the Headmistress's office.
The saint's appearance wasn't a coincidence…
But why would the Headmistress want to see me?
I don't remember ever speaking to her or trying to contact her in any way… so why now?
I rushed through the halls until I finally reached the door to her office.
Gulp…
I couldn't help but swallow nervously before stepping inside.
I just hope things go well.
