Leaving the principal's office, Yuki Judai walked down the corridor towards the classroom.
It was currently class time, and the corridor was quiet.
From the classroom window, one could see students attending class in the surrounding classrooms.
For Yuki Judai, there wasn't much worth remembering about his academy life. The characters from the original series, though, appeared in Yuki Judai's life to varying degrees. However, due to limited interaction with them, Yuki Judai hadn't formed any so-called 'bonds' with them.
Perhaps, this was his most authentic self. Solitary, aloof, and indifferent.
When he left, he would have no attachments, needing no goodbyes.
Yuki Judai smiled.
"After the tournament, should I continue attending Duel Academy's High School Section...?"
Judai, someone's dueling outside.
Just as he was thinking.
Yubel's voice sounded in Yuki Judai's ear.
Beside him, Yubel's figure slowly materialized.
Arms crossed, she looked out the window at the playing field.
Yuki Judai followed her gaze.
He then discovered that on the playing field, a boy, whose black attire and hairstyle were almost identical to his own, was standing there, dueling a girl in a blue school uniform.
"That person must be from the so-called 'Underworld Duel Club,' right? To dress up exactly like you, what terrible taste..." Yubel said venomously.
"..." Yuuki Judai glanced at Yubel, pursed his lips, but said nothing.
It seemed that after spending a long time with him, the current Yubel, though not as yandere and crazy as in the original series, had developed a venomous tongue and a tendency to be a tsukkomi (straight man).
"Hmph... no matter how bad the taste, it must be better than yours."
Yuki Judai retorted unceremoniously.
"You..." Yubel gritted her teeth and glared at Yuki Judai.
The two fell silent in unison, looking at the playing field.
"I, in Defense Position, summon [Elemental HERO Winged Kuriboh]!"
"Set three cards face-down, turn end!"
The boy, who dressed strikingly similarly to Judai, smiled as he ended his first turn.
"Oh? Opening with one monster in defense and three face-downs, a T-formation? Very much your style, Judai," Yubel chuckled.
"Hmph, I stopped playing like that six years ago," Yuki Judai said coldly, crossing his arms.
"Is that so? Weren't you still playing like that not long ago?"
Yubel gazed into the distance. She saw the boy activate his face-down card, "Bottomless Trap Hole," then couldn't help but sneer. "It seems that kid imitates you quite well."
"..."
Yuki Judai silently watched the boy. In his mind, a name seemed to vaguely emerge.
"I think I remember..." Yuki Judai thought of something. In the original series, there was indeed such a person. He was skilled at imitating others' appearances, dueling styles, and deck compositions. That person even stole Yugi Muto's deck at Duel Academy and had a two-episode duel with Yuki Judai.
"Sartorius." Yuki Judai murmured softly.
"But I remember he first appeared as a Ra Yellow student, right?"
"Logically, he should have been an external applicant who passed the exam to enter the High School Section..."
"It seems the worldline isn't entirely unchanging..." Yuki Judai chuckled lightly.
"What? You seem very happy." Seeing the smile on Yuki Judai's face, Yubel also showed a slight smile.
"Yes, although it's just a little bit, I've at least changed some of the world, haven't I?" Yuki Judai smiled, then turned and left.
"Changing the world..." Yubel fell silent.
Judai, did he actually have such thoughts?
...
Back in the classroom.
Under the surprised gazes of the instructor and the entire class, Yuki Judai reported.
"Reporting, I apologize, I was delayed by something just now." Yuki Judai straightened up and said to the teacher.
"Uh... you're Judai-kun, right? Quick, hurry back to your seat, class has already started." The instructor wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. He seemed to have never imagined that Yuki Judai would attend his class. This was the first time he had seen Yuki Judai since the beginning of the semester.
Yuki Judai actually came to my class? Teacher, my youth has ended, sob sob sob...
Yuki Judai returned to his seat. After sitting down, he could still feel many surprised glances on him.
"This is amazing, isn't that Yuki Judai skipping class? How could he be back in class?" Junko looked at Yuki Judai in surprise, unable to help but complain to Momoe beside her.
"Yeah, the sun must have risen from the west..." Momoe murmured, then glanced at Asuka, who was diligently listening to the lecture behind her. "Asuka, aren't you curious at all?"
"What's there to be curious about...? Maybe he's not back for class, anyway?" Asuka said with a wry smile.
Sure enough, not long after sitting down, Yuki Judai took out his deck and began constructing it on the desk.
"Eh~ Asuka understands him quite well, doesn't she?" Momoe said in surprise. "It seems that observing Yuki Judai secretly all this time wasn't for nothing."
"You..." Asuka paused, then glared at Momoe, somewhat annoyed.
After all. He was also someone who had defeated her... She had originally only wanted to observe him, to find weaknesses in his dueling. But over time, Asuka also learned some of Yuki Judai's habits.
However. Asuka still firmly believed that she and he were just ordinary classmates. Hmm... the kind that barely spoke once a month.
