Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 °•○●

POV - Orion Vale

After spending hours in a battlefield simulation—and then a death trap zone filled with monsters and strange puzzles, Orion had finally relaxed. Mostly because he'd ended up chatting with an NPC named Thalia.

She was hot.

And he was still naked.

Touching a beautiful woman's body while being inside the most advanced VR game he'd ever imagined?

Yeah. He was more than okay with it.

"Attending school in a magical world, huh… I wonder what that's going to be like."

The moment he blinked, the scenery changed.

Now he was in a small, empty room. No furniture. Just a single door and a tiny window.

Teleportation?

Beam me up, Scotty onee-chan?

"I've probably watched more than tens of space and cosmologic documentaries. But I've never heard of teleportation was possible.

Is magic more advanced than science?

Then he took a deep breath and remembered he was inside a game.

Teleportation is impossible, like time travel. But visial tricks in a game is possible.

Still processing the shift, Orion looked down at himself. His hands wandered over his toned arms, firm chest, flat stomach and then he discovered something... massive.

I am not even aroused yet..

Then paused and laughed.

"Okay. That's a hell of a surprise. No complaints, though."

He walked over to a tall but extremely thin window.

He was inside some kind of massive building. The late afternoon sun bathed everything in golden light outside. Birds flew in the distance.

A group of students, probably in their twenties were casually walking through the garden.

"The clothes look a bit strange but not ancient."

Everyone carried thick notebooks or books, some strapped to their backs others hugged in their arms.

No digital tablets. No audio recorders. Hell, not even a smartwatch or a wall clock in sight. They're writing everything down manually with paper? That says a lot.

This place is like a medieval world in terms of tech. But the way they use magic? Might be light-years ahead of anything tech-bros can sell.

When Orion was lost in thought and muttering to himself, someone entered the room behind him.

He didn't notice. No surprise-he had zero knowledge of mana or magical presence. If he had sensed the person, then it would've been strange.

Just as he was about to say "open menu," a cough interrupted him.

A deep one.

He turned and saw an old man with white hair, cloaked in black and burgundy smokin. His expression was unreadable, but those sharp eyes were enough to freeze anyone in place.

Except there was something else behind the gaze...

Curiosity.

Annoyance?

He looked pissed.

What the hell's that face supposed to mean old man? We just met!

Orion looked down at himself, still naked and then back at the old man who was very blatantly not looking away.

"Your school supplies and exam results will be delivered shortly," the old man said flatly. Then added. "Due to your performance, the assessment committee has made some adjustments to your ranking."

He raised his left hand decorated with at least seven rings and a large cardboard box appeared out of thin air.

Oh cool, spatial rings!

Inside were Orion's clothes, along with everything he'd packed for the trip to the Academy.

Three outfits, a pile of underwear, several notebooks, a few pens, a small metal case, and several pouches full of junk and trinkets.

Just as Orion was thinking dressing, a younger boy entered the room and handed a stack of papers. Boy waited for the old man to check the papers. Then gave a polite bow and left without a word.

The silence felt awkward now.

The old man looked down at the papers, then held them out to Orion.

"These are yours. You didn't take the physical fitness test, so that section's blank for now. But given your performance no one thought it was necessary."

"If you want to be measured," he added with a slightly amused tone, "the student evaluation centers are open twenty-four hours until orientation week ends."

Orion gave a short nod and began flipping through the papers. When he looked up again, the man was gone.

"How little mana does teleportation cost here? He blinks in and out like it's something normal."

The documents were filled with detailed info about him and the school.

Orion paused at the spot where the old man had been standing moments ago.

"He wasn't just some forgetful grandpa. He dropped two very specific hints and I'm pretty sure it wasn't by accident.

First, he downplayed the physical evaluation like it was optional, but still pointed out it's open at night. That means it's important and most students probably don't even know they can get measured after day hours.

Second, he said "adjustments were made" to my results. Plural. Not a single change. Multiple ones.

Figures. I am the main character in this game after all."

As Orion continued scanning the pages, more than a few unseen eyes watched him carefully. Some were hidden within the walls of the Academy. Others were in the room with him but Orion didn't know it.

Eventually, he found the most important sheet and walked toward the door.

He figured he'd look at the bags inside his dorm. And then maybe log out the damn game if it was possible now.

Orion stepped through the doorway and found himself in a long corridor. The plaque on the door read "1st Rank," which was strange enough.

But then he looked up—and froze.

Dozens of students were lined up outside their rooms in a long corridor. All of them were staring at him.

Shocked. Curious. Whispering.

"Okay. I guess it's normal for them to be curious about the guy who placed first in the entrance exam."

He cleared his throat, ready to make a cocky remark. Maybe something fitting for a proper main character.

That's when a breez blew through his body from the window behind.

And a cold shiver ran up to his spine.

He looked down.

"..."

"Right. I am still butt naked!"
