Chapter 3 - V1| Chapter 3

'Why are they bouncing?'

Of the countless reasons I thought being a woman was a chore, I never expected this to be the main one that affected me.

I stared at the twin balls bouncing on me as I moved. They weren't bigger, but they were uncomfortably, annoyingly enough, the right size for a bounce.

Looking around, I was in an underground bubble, with mud walls surrounding me. Behind me, cracked pieces of an egg lay. My eyes desperately searched for something to wear, but to my despair, there was nothing.

Another breeze passed by, making me frown. Where were these breezes coming from? I glanced at the skeleton in my hand in doubt. It stared at me in ignorance, making me sigh in helplessness.

'At least there is no one except me and this guy. He is also naked, so we are even.'

I nodded at my conjecture, lessening the awkwardness. Still, the shifting of the breasts annoyed me. I quit moving altogether. Finally they were still.

"That bitch should've given me a cloth…" I cursed under my breath.

"Master, do you want a cloth?"

"Why wouldn't I want a cloth? I am naked, man. I AM FUCKING NAKED."

"I never thought Master to have such human decency," mumbled Diamond as I felt a weight coming onto my body. I looked down at the long dark purple robes covering my entire body.

Then at the skeleton, which turned into a simple tattoo on the top of my palm. I blinked, standing up and circling around. The robe perfectly mended into my skin, the curves of my body had thicker layers than other parts.

A cloak flowed behind me, reaching just below my waist. Overall, the cloth perfectly matched me in a way it never affected my movements.

"So you can turn into a cloth! How convenient."

"I can become anything you want, Master," Diamond enthusiastically muttered in my head. I patted the head part of the tattoo on my palm.

"You are so useful." At least I didn't have to go around naked. My gaze then landed on the broken pieces of egg on the ground. Oh, eggs. Ohhh… eggs.

"Did I hatch from it?" I whispered, reaching for a piece and picking it up. The surface of the cracked egg was white and smooth. I could see my appearance in it clearly.

The face looking back at me wasn't something a loner, basement-bound virgin should dare to look straight at. She was that beautiful. I had seen her leaked appearance, and I knew she was the most beautiful character introduced in the manhwa.

Considering her, the female love interest of the MC was an ordinary sheep. But I never expected her to be this breathtaking in real life. Even the supermodels on Earth weren't qualified to be near her.

Dark purple pupils, which contained countless stars inside, were fixed into a face that could be called meticulously carved by the heavens itself. Sharp features of her face quickened my breathing, and smooth silver hair flowed down like a waterfall, bathing me in a cold shiver.

She was the epitome of beauty, and it gnawed me out of my reverie by the thought that I was sharing her body now.

And it worsened my mood considerably.

Not because I feared the trouble this body might bring, but because the author specifically avoided the overused jade-beauty obsession cliché in the novel

But the notion of my inability to have this kind of beauty myself, like every transmigrated protagonist in the novels made me grunt. It's easy to admire beauty when it's not wearing your skin.

At least I could love myself and hadn't feared being rejected.

"Oh, I forgot. Master, hurry and eat them. Or you will have to wait to reach level 10 to awaken your bloodline trait and skill tree."

Diamond urged me through our bond. It was the first time he had talked to me through the bond, and the feeling was rather unique, like a storm in the desert.

Symboint bond… I wanted to ask more about it, but he urged me to eat the eggshells. I gazed at the shell in my hand in disgust, battling the retching coming from my throat.

Then, closing my eyes, I pushed it into my mouth. The taste wasn't bad. It tasted like chocolate candy. A warm current rushed into my veins and flowed into my heart.

[Awakening the dormant bloodline…]

Everyone in the world would be born with a Symboint anchor. But not all of them would have Symboints bonded with them. Those who had innate Symboints would awaken their Soul Tree.

The skills in the Soul Tree depended on the Symboints they bonded with. After a Bonded reached level 10, they would unlock their class and purpose connected to this class.

After level 10, the only way for a Bonded to level up was by following their class purpose. In simple terms, once the purpose was fixed, their nature also changed according to it.

Bloodline was even rarer than Bonded. Only descendants of gods had the capability to carry one. In the manhwa, Zane was a descendant of the Death Dragon, which was an origin monster above the judiciary of the gods.

A truly broken character. Only the main character had the same talent as she—now me.

[Bloodline detected…]

[Descendant of Death Dragon…]

[Bloodline trait unlocked: Harbinger of Death.]

[Harbinger of Death: You are dear to death and master to its path. From now on, its call will be answered by you.]

The aura around me completely changed into something sinister and eerily comforting. A multitude of voices echoed in my head, white agony invading me viciously.

"Ugh…" I groaned, almost losing my footing. Again, the warm energy from before washed through me, distinguishing the voices in my head for me to read them clearly.

"What's that?"

"The call of death," Diamond had a cold, mechanical voice that gave me goosebumps. "Your trait allowed you to hear the death of living beings. Master, I have no idea why you awakened this trait this early…"

I ignored the creepiness in his words, catching the important thing I wanted to hear. So my trait was to hear the death of living beings… what the hell was this trait?

Hear the death of living beings? How could that even be possible—to hear the death of someone not dead?

"It's complex… You have to explore it yourself. Master, hurry and check your status. I can't wait to see your skill tree!" Diamond was more excited than me.

I closed my eyes and allowed my mind to reach into my soul.

Like a curtain opening inward, my soul space presented itself before my sight. A small sprout shone in the otherwise dark expanse.

There was a single branch on this sprout, with two leaves swaying gently. The rest of the six leaves were grayed out and still.

[Death Receiver]

1. Death Sense – Can hear the lingering emotions of someone before death. May be as past, may be as present or may be as the future.

2. Echo Recall – Revives a corpse with fragmented memories. Can regain their final emotion, if heard before death.

The details of the two leaves unfolded in my mind before another screen replaced them:
