It was a usual evening in the military looking for any Zlorags posing as refugees,i clocked out and headed to base camp.
When i reached there Commander Burns was talking with a couple of higher ups about the war and stuff, it did'nt seem to intresting until i heard the word "parasite", at first i was confused as to what they were disscussing i could'nt really make out what they were saying as the door was closed, so i leaned closer to eavesdrop on their conversation to know more.
Turns out a Parasitic Zloragian Virus has started to spread in china,the government decided to test everyone who was near the borders to check if they have this new virus or not.I also heard that they were going to disguise the test as a regular yearly medical check-up.
I was stunned at the moment,but i was'nt too worried, it as gonna be just like any other doctor's visit, right?
The day came and all the new cadets along with all the taskforces were lined up outside of a doctor's tent set up near base camp.soon enough,it was my turn.
The doctor said "You must be?"
I replied" Suzuki, I'm Suzuki Ryder"
the doctor then instructed me to sign some sort of consent form or something before taking samples of my blood,bone marrow,etc.
The doctor told me that i can leave and soon the results will be handed to me.
I left the tent and i was heading back to my bed in the basecamp,but Commander Burns stopped me and my team mates and told us "Listen very carefully, I am not supposed to tell you this but if a person is infected for more than a week they start..." My teamate replied "they start.what?" Commander Burns Sighed and said"They start to devlop tendencies of cannabilism, which is not good for a country as populated as ours.Now dissmiss, i've told you more than i should but this info SHALL never reach the new cadets"
We nodded and headed back to base, I knew i was gonna be exchanged for a new cadet for border patrol starting next week but i still could'nt sleep well.
Soon the Test results came it said something along the lines of:
Name: SUZUKI RYDER
Age: 20
D/O/B: 31/5/2049
ALLERGIES: POLLEN
CANCER: -VE
PROLONGED DISEASE: HYPERTHYMESIA
PZV-16: -VE (result for the new virus)
And so on, i was wondering what this Hyperthymesia meant so I went ahead and asked one of my smart buddies(Flynn) what it meant, and turns out even he did'nt know which left me wondering.
I went back to the doctor who examined me and asked" Doctor.This Hyperthymesia what is it,and how does it effect me?"
The doctor replied"You did'nt know what it was?"
I replied "No."
he said it is a disease where a person can remember even the most tiny minute details of their lives,he also said it gives me a photographic memory which means i cant forget, Now that i think of it when, whenever i went to somewhere new and came back, i would remember the tiniest details and very vividly too.
But as to why i did'nt know about my "disease" when i was little,Mom was'nt in the best financial position so i barely ever went to a doctor to get regular check ups,that would explain alot.
Anyway i headed back to my bed wondering how this would affect me,It could'nt be that bothersome.
The next morning I was rotated out of border patrol and replaced with a new cadet. I told him the basics,then i left.
A couple months later, I got promoted to Lieutenant, which is pretty awsome consedering that the Zlorags have been doing nothing but making empty threats.
But that did'nt last long as they soon landed a ship in Vurmei. It turned out to be a kamikaze mission which had failed due to the World Defence Commitee's Anti-UFO missiles.
