Chapter 3 - Chapter 3- Sword of the Immortal, Hunger of the Mortal

Xuanwu Immortal Realm, Upper Realm

In the towering jade palace nestled among the clouds, a roar exploded like divine thunder.

"Damn it! That's the deity's holy sword!!"

The voice echoed for thousands of miles, shaking mountains and rivers. Countless celestial beasts and cultivators trembled in fear.

Inside the palace, a golden-robed man stood atop the marble dais. His face was cold, his expression twisted in rage. Terrifying immortal power radiated from his body, distorting the space around him into a chaotic storm.

"Summon the Twelve Immortals—now!"

His command shook the skies.

In an instant, twelve streaks of radiant light descended from the clouds, landing before him and transforming into twelve tall, ethereal figures. They kneeled in perfect unison.

"We greet the Immortal Venerable!"

The golden-robed man narrowed his eyes.

"My divine sword—refined over a thousand years—has descended into the lower realm. At all costs, retrieve it!"

His voice boomed with killing intent.

"If there are any lowly ants in the lower realm... kill without mercy!"

"As ordered!"

With that, twelve immortal rainbows tore through the skies, speeding toward the mortal world.

Lower Realm, Immortal Temple

Back in the rain-drenched temple, Huan Changge sat cross-legged inside his Invincible Domain, speaking to his system.

"System, is there any other way to earn domain value besides killing monsters and ghosts?"

System Response:

"Field value acquisition must be explored by the host."

Huan Changge sighed. "I figured as much."

Still, he wasn't discouraged.

"System show my status window."

Suddenly a blue screen materialized,

Huan Changge Smiled.

"So, this my status window it's kinda cool."

There were monsters and beasts everywhere in this cursed world. He'd gain domain value sooner or later.

He looked around the ancient, cold temple and called out with a raised voice.

"Hey! Any more ghosts in here?"

Silence.

Apparently, the ghost woman he had slain was the only one.

He scratched his head, troubled. "That old man told me this temple was protected by ancient bans. How'd a ghost sneak in here?"

His expression darkened.

The old caretaker hadn't returned in over a month.

A bad feeling stirred in his chest.

"Damn it, old man. You better not have died out there."

But what could he do?

Without his Invincible Domain, stepping outside meant death.

Suddenly—

Grrrrrgle.

His stomach growled.

Huan Changge winced, clutching his belly.

"The dried rations the old man left ran out two days ago. I'm starving…"

He glanced outside the temple.

Pitch-black.

Rain fell like steel needles, the wind howled eerily, and the shadows seemed alive—ready to devour him the moment he stepped out.

Even with hunger gnawing at his bones, he dared not leave.

"Forget it," he mumbled, slumping beside the stone statue. "Let's just make it through the night."

---

An hour passed.

Huan Changge suddenly sat up, rubbing his head in frustration.

"I can't take it anymore! I'm starving to death!!"

His stomach churned like a beast in revolt. His entire body ached, and he swore his eggs were aching too!

He gritted his teeth and walked to the edge of his Invincible Domain.

He hesitated—then extended his hand outside.

Wooooosh—!

Instantly, a sinister, cold aura swept over his arm. The temperature plummeted. His skin went pale.

He yelped and pulled back.

Within the domain—it was like spring.

Outside—it was like the gates of hell.

"There are definitely ghosts out there!" he gasped.

Shuddering, he clutched his belly and shouted into the void:

"Fine! Starvation is slow, but I'm not dying outside like an idiot!"

He collapsed again, hopeless.

"If someone—anyone, ghost or human—brought me food right now, I'd kiss them!"

Thunder rumbled violently outside.

Rain pounded the earth.

But despite his hunger, exhaustion won out. Huan Changge curled into himself, wrapped in his thin robes.

Drooling, snoring, he muttered in his dreams:

"Hotpot… sexy girls… luxury cars… BBQ skewers… hehe… all mine…"

---

Outside the Immortal Temple

Amid the thunder and rain, two figures appeared at the edge of the mountain path.

The first—a young girl, no older than thirteen or fourteen. She was barefoot, wearing a soaked purple dress, her hair a bright yellow. Her eyes, wide with fear, glanced behind her as she fled through the storm.

The second—a tall, scar-faced man with a vicious expression. His burly figure exuded a chilling aura, and his eyes glinted with cruelty.

"Run all you want, little girl," he sneered. "Sooner or later, you'll be mine."

The girl turned, drawing a short sword. Her eyes were fierce despite the tears.

"You disgusting beast! I'll kill you!"

With a shout, she unleashed her sword technique—Wind Dominant Slash!

A sharp gust, imbued with spiritual energy, howled toward the man.

He laughed, spinning his massive hammer.

"Let's see how that breeze of yours fares against me!"

BOOM!

Hammer met wind.

A shockwave exploded outward, scattering leaves and rain like blades.

But before the dust settled, the girl lunged from the blast zone, sword gleaming.

The man grunted and blocked with his hammer, sparks flying from the clash.

"You're feisty," he growled. "But you're still mine!"

---

Back inside the temple, Huan Changge scratched his belly in his sleep.

He rolled to the side, murmuring:

"Mmm… BBQ meat… grilled fish… spicy tofu…"

Outside, the fierce battle moved closer—until the girl, bloodied and desperate, spotted the Immortal Temple through the trees.

Eyes wide with hope, she turned and dashed toward the entrance.
